20110238143SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ALTERING AND MAINTAINING THE BODY TEMPERATURE OF A PATIENT - A system includes a temperature reducing apparatus having a first enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein, and a liquid delivery system in fluid communication with the first enclosure for controlling the temperature of a heat transfer liquid and delivering the heat transfer liquid into the first enclosure in direct contact with the patient's body portion when received in the first enclosure. A temperature maintenance apparatus includes a second enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein, and a gas delivery system in fluid communication with the second enclosure for controlling the temperature of a heat transfer gas and delivering the heat transfer gas into the second enclosure in direct contact with the patient's body portion when received in the second enclosure. The second enclosure is different than the first enclosure.09-29-2011
20110208275Apparatus For Altering The Body Temperature Of A Patient - Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises an enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein. The enclosure is constructed for transferring a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body received in the enclosure to promote heat transfer between the patient's body and the heat transfer liquid. A drain for draining the heat transfer liquid from the interior space of the enclosure is at least partially disposed beneath the enclosure. A hold-open inhibits occlusion of the drain. A weir in fluid communication with the drain maintains the heat transfer liquid at a predetermined height in the enclosure. A control system is preprogrammed with a target temperature for the body temperature of the patient.08-25-2011
20080306577APPARATUS FOR ALTERING THE BODY TEMPERATURE OF A PATIENT - Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises a cover for covering at least a portion of a patient's body and a compliant support adapted to underlie and generally conform to the shape of the portion of the patient's body to define a well adjacent to the patient's body portion for accumulating heat transfer liquid. The cover and compliant support cooperatively define an enclosure for receiving the portion of the patient's body and are constructed to conduct a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body received in the enclosure to promote heat transfer between the patient's body and the heat transfer liquid.12-11-2008
20080228245APPARATUS FOR ALTERING THE BODY TEMPERATURE OF A PATIENT - Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient includes an enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein. The enclosure is constructed to conduct a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body received in the interior space to promote heat transfer between the patient's body and the heat transfer liquid. A reservoir for holding a supply of heat transfer liquid is disposed on the enclosure.09-18-2008
20080221493APPARATUS FOR ALTERING THE BODY TEMPERATURE OF A PATIENT AND ADMINISTERING DECOMPRESSION TO THE PATIENTS TORSO - Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient and administering decompression to a patient's torso includes an upper member for overlying the patient's torso. The upper member has at least one inlet for directing heat transfer liquid into direct liquid contact with the patient's torso to promote heat transfer between the patient's torso and the heat transfer liquid. A decompression device is adapted for securement to the upper member for use in at least decompressing the patient's torso with the upper member interposed between the decompression device and the patient's torso. The upper member is configured to facilitate decompression of the patient's torso upon operation of the decompression device to apply a decompressive pressure to the upper member.09-11-2008
