The actuators are released when an earthquake signal is detected to allow the base to oscillate freely during the earthquake attack. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method receives data. The method separates the data into multiple file chunks for compression. A respective compression-encryption instructions header is provided for each compressed file chunk. Each compressed file chunk then is encrypted according to corresponding encryption instructions in the file-chunk's compression-encryption instructions. In one implementation, the compressed file chunks are encrypted by respective worker nodes in a peer-to-peer computing environment. In one embodiment, audio data may be identified using feature selection. A plurality of audio descriptors may be ranked by calculating a Fisher's discriminant ratio for each audio descriptor. Next, a configurable number of highest ranking audio descriptors based on the Fisher's discriminant ratio of each audio descriptor are selected to obtain a selected feature set. 20120040023Use of Date Syrup as a Binder - This invention is concerned with the use of date syrup used as a binder (agglutinant) for solid dosage forms, such as tablets. The features of the granules and the tablets have been studied in comparison with granules and tablets which use different types of agglutinants such as starch paste and sucrose syrup and the results have shown that the use of date syrup as a binder for tablets yields results superior to other kinds of binders. In addition, date syrups gives the granules and tablets a fair color, good taste, distinct and pleasant odor, and it is favorable in regards to shape and taste by patients.02-16-2012

A central water purification boiler module includes a heating zone upon which the sunlight is focused by the two-axis Fresnel concentrator mirror unit. In one aspect, the solar power conversion receiver includes a circular glass envelope and an absorber tube encapsulated within the circular glass envelope. An annulus, positioned between the circular glass envelope and the outer perimeter of the absorber tube, is bifurcated by first and second fins operatively coupled to the circular glass envelope and the absorber tube. These fins create first and second annulus compartments that are substantially sealed off, or independent, from one another. The first and second fins are ductile and responsive to expansion and contraction of components in the solar power conversion receiver due to temperature effects. In one aspect, gas in the lower annulus compartment stratifies with cooler gas interfacing with the encapsulating glass envelope, and hotter gas interfacing with the hotter absorber tube, resulting reduced natural convection heat loss as compared to conventional glass encapsulated receivers.09-08-2011

The transient sensor node, responsive to receiving the packet, estimates how much operational energy remains in the sensor node. If the determined amount of energy meets a configurable threshold, the transient sensor node implements a set of cooperative packet routing operations for conditional re-transmission of the packet to the base station. The configurable threshold is set to ensure substantially optimal usage and lifetime of the sensor node in the wireless sensor network. 20100094360PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CRANIAL BONE FLAPS - Methods are provided for preserving and restoring cranial bone flaps. In one aspect, the method to preserve a cranial bone flap includes cleaning a cranial bone flap, washing the cranial bone flap with a sterile saline solution including gentamycin, and washing the bone with a sterile saline solution including vancomycin. The cranial bone flap may be dried, wrapped, and packaged before being stored in a freezer. The fixing method may include removing the preserved cranial bone flap from a freezer and unwrapping the preserved cranial bone flap from any wrappings. A previous wound may be opened for insertion of the preserved cranial bone flap. The preserved cranial bone flap may be washed with a sterile saline solution including gentamycin and a sterile saline solution including vancomycin. The edges of the previous wound may be refreshed by nipping free margins to expose diploic spaces, and the preserved cranial bone flap may be fixed in place within the previous wound.04-15-2010

In one aspect, a message is received from a sender as an input in a first natural language and is translated into a selected second natural language. An XOR operation is performed on the binary Unicode representation of the input in the second natural language and a binary key to generate an encrypted output. The encrypted output is sent to a receiver. The encrypted output may be decrypted by the receiver in the reverse of the encryption process. In one implementation, the smoke monitor includes a counter that counts the number of smoking devices lit by a user, for example, over a predetermined amount of time.
