| 20120124920 | Smart isolation base for sensitive structures such as Nuclear power plants against earthquake disturbances - An isolation base system for sensitive structures such as nuclear power plant modules is suggested. The proposed isolation system considers a base supported on specially designed hollow spherical balls and equipped with 3 linear hydraulic actuators to restrict the lateral motion of the base and provide a stable base under normal conditions. The actuators are released when an earthquake signal is detected to allow the base to oscillate freely during the earthquake attack. The hydraulic actuators are reactivated after shock wave ends to compress the springs and restore the base to its original position. | 05-24-2012 |

| 20120098564 | Reversing the Weak Measurement on a Qubit - Methods and systems are disclosed for restoring a state of a qubit transformed by a weak measurement to its original state. Unlike traditional methods, in which, the restoration was carried out by way of another weak measurement, the disclosed method uses an additional qubit, referred to as the ancillary qubit, and appropriate Hadamard and CNOT transformation for restoring the original state. Because the disclosed method avoids a second weak measurement, the time for restoration of the original state is considerably reduced. | 04-26-2012 |

| 20120022216 | PROCESS FOR PREPARING INSULATION SHEETS FROM UNSEPARATED MIXTURES OF POST-CONSUMER PLASTIC ARTICLES - The present invention disclosed a process for the preparation of thermal insulation sheets fashioned from certain unseparated mixtures of post-consumer plastic articles. The mixtures of such articles used are those which contain articles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polystyrene (PS) and optionally also articles made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). An unseparated mixture of such articles is provided in Step A of the process. This mixture is then crushed and shredded in Step B to form plastic flakes, and these plastic flakes are then homogenized In Step C to form a uniform blend of the several plastic types. Homogenization of the flakes can be carried out either by melt-blending them or by further comminution to produce very fine particles of the mixed plastics. The resulting homogenized mixture of plastic types is then compression molded in Step D into sheets ranging in thickness from about 3 to 10 mm. It has been discovered that such molded plastic sheets exhibit thermal conductivity characteristics which make them suitable for use as thermal insulation in a wide variety of insulation applications and contexts. | 01-26-2012 |
| 20120021890 | PREPARATION OF SINTERED CORDIERITE GLASS-CERAMIC BODIES - Disclosed is the preparation of sintered cordierite-based glass-ceramic bodies via a procedure which uses three all natural starting materials which are white sand, kaolin clay and magnesite. These three raw materials, which are preferably sourced from the same geographic area such as Saudi Arabia, are combined in relative amounts which form, upon subsequent mixing and heating, a specific mixture of oxides of silicon, aluminum and magnesium. Upon melting at 1500-1550° C., this combination of raw materials forms transparent brown glass which after solidification by quenching is then crushed and reduced to grains having a median particle size less than 65 microns. These brown glass grains are consolidated, for example by compaction, to form a green body for sintering. Sintering of the green body at temperatures between about 1000° C. and 1375° C. for from 2 to 5 hours produces glass-ceramic bodies containing a polycrystalline material which comprises mostly material of the cordierite crystal structure. Such cordierite-based glass-ceramic bodies have density, microhardness, CTE and dielectric constant properties which make them suitable for use in various technical fields such as cookware, water filtration devices and equipment, and electronics. | 01-26-2012 |
