A subset of web pages is determined which comprises the web pages that have been accessed by the user with the largest access frequency. This subset is limited to a maximum number of web pages. The plurality of web pages is generally arranged in a tree structure. The tree structure is rooted at the starting webpage. The web pages that are comprised in the subset of web pages is either linked to a portlet which is directly linked to the starting webpage or the subset of web pages is determined at the point in time when the user accesses the user specific special webpage which is also directly linked to the starting webpage. The method in accordance with the invention is particularly advantageous as it allows a user to directly access a webpage within a few clicks away from the starting webpage.
