20130231904 | DYNAMIC OUTLIER BIAS REDUCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD - A system and method is described herein for data filtering to reduce functional, and trend line outlier bias. Outliers are removed from the data set through an objective statistical method. Bias is determined based on absolute, relative error, or both. Error values are computed from the data, model coefficients, or trend line calculations. Outlier data records are removed when the error values are greater than or equal to the user-supplied criteria. For optimization methods or other iterative calculations, the removed data are re-applied each iteration to the model computing new results. Using model values for the complete dataset, new error values are computed and the outlier bias reduction procedure is re-applied. Overall error is minimized for model coefficients and outlier removed data in an iterative fashion until user defined error improvement limits are reached. The filtered data may be used for validation, outlier bias reduction and data quality operations. | 09-05-2013 |
20090063094 | Control Asset Comparative Performance Analysis System and Methodolgy - A system and method is provided for determining the variability induced on a process output. The method includes the analysis of input variable values to determine the total variability. A series of processes may be analyzed and ranked so that a process owner may gain an understanding of how a target process performs relative to the processes of other process owners. The method includes the generation of graphical process comparisons and advice regarding asset performance. The method also includes the estimation of cost impacts due to changes in induced variability. | 03-05-2009 |
20090024429 | GRAPHICAL RISK-BASED PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT AND BENCHMARKING SYSTEM AND METHOD - A system and method provides analysis of pre- and post-project effects on frequency and severity of operational loss. The method includes the computation of the frequency of incidents and the severity of incidents for equipment based on recorded incident data. Risk, a function of frequency and severity, is calculated before and after a project to determine if the project has changed the risk of an incident in a piece of equipment or facility and if the project has changed the nature of risk (i.e. increasing severity while decreasing frequency). The method may be used to compute forecast estimates of future operational losses, assess goals for improving current performance relative to demonstrated industry performance, and determine statistical confidence intervals of forecast such that risk, and changes in risk, may be visually quantified and communicated. | 01-22-2009 |
20080270078 | BENCHMARKING AND GAP ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHOD - A computer-implemented method is provided for creating a peer unit and comparing that peer unit to a target unit in order to determine the difference in performance between the target unit and a peer unit. The peer unit is a hypothetical construct of user-defined performance variables whose values are determined based on outstanding performing units in a user-defined group. This comparison allows the user to assess what parameters of the target unit should be changed in order to improve overall performance. | 10-30-2008 |
20080201181 | System and method for determining equivalency factors for use in comparative performance analysis of industrial facilities - The present invention provides a system and method for determining equivalency factors for use in comparative performance analysis of industrial facilities by determining a target variable and a plurality of characteristics of the target variable. Each of the plurality of characterstics is ranked according to value. Based on ranking value, the characteristics are divided into categories. Based on the sorted and ranked characteristics, a data collection classification system is developed. Data is collected according to the data collection classification system. The data is validated, and based on the data, an analysis model is developed. The analysis model then calculates the equivalency factors. | 08-21-2008 |
