20080320093 | Controlling the sending of electronic mail - The present invention is directed to systems and methods for sending individual email messages in a batch, and monitoring the information returned from every receiving mail server to make sure that the failure rate for each server does not rise too high. Two running counts are maintained for every receiving mail server—one count for successful delivery messages, another count for failed delivery messages. A calculation is maintained based on the number of success messages divided by the number of failure messages for each receiving mail server. The calculated result is treated like a score, and is compared to a pre-set value. When the pre-set value is met or exceeded for an individual receiving mail server, the continued sending of email messages to the mail server is stopped. A notification is provided to the sending mail server administrator indicating mail to the individual receiving mail server was stopped. The administrator can review a log of all returned mail and determine whether to re-start the mail batch or remove the batch from the queue for further analysis. | 12-25-2008 |
