20130211727 | Method to Improve Spatial Sampling of Vertical Motion of Seismic Wavefields on the Free Surface of the Earth by Utilizing Horizontal Rotational Motion and Vertical Motion Sensors - The present method provides spatial sampling of a seismic wavefield on the free surface of the earth at an effective spatial sampling denser than the physical layout of the sensors. The sensors are comprised of a sensing element for vertical particle motion at the earth's surface, and a sensing element for rotational motion around a horizontal axis at the surface of the earth. Stress and wavefield conditions known at the free surface of the earth allow the rotational sensing element to yield the transverse horizontal gradient of the vertical particle motion wavefield. This horizontal gradient and the vertical particle motion data are utilized in the technique of ordinate and slope sampling to yield an improved transverse spatial sampling of the vertical particle motion wavefield. The method has a wide range of application in seismic surveys in oil and gas exploration and production. | 08-15-2013 |
20130144534 | Multi-Component Spectral Warping Analysis for Thin Bed Resolution - A characteristic of a target layer is determined by receiving primary wave data and secondary wave data from multi-component receivers for acquiring both primary wave data and secondary wave data in a seismic exploration system, calculating a Vp/Vs ratio by correlating in a frequency domain a number of estimated primary wave spectra derived from a measured secondary wave spectrum to a measured primary wave spectrum, wherein Vp is a first velocity of a primary wave and Vs is a second velocity of a secondary wave for a target depth interval, using a warp factor associated with the Vp/Vs ratio, calculating a time separation for primary wave signals from a top and a bottom of the target depth interval. | 06-06-2013 |
20110140788 | Dithering Control of Oscillator Frequency to Reduce Cumulative Timing Error in a Clock - A method for correcting time error in an oscillator operated clock according to one aspect of the invention includes at selected times determining at least one of a time error in the clock and a frequency difference between the oscillator and a reference oscillator by detecting a time reference signal. A change in the at least one of the time error and the frequency difference between a first one and a second one of the detecting the time reference signals is determined. A frequency of the oscillator is adjusted so as to substantially cancel a cumulative time error between the second one of the detecting the time reference signal and a selected detecting the time reference signal. | 06-16-2011 |
