| 20120025566 | Self-Tearing Interior Wrap - A self-tearing wrap and methods for its manufacture are disclosed, the wrap being useful for incorporation onto interior trim panels. The wrap includes an unscored skin such as leather affixed to a foam layer made of an open or closed cell foam material having specific properties. Interior trim panels including the self-tearing leather wrap may include weakened substrates operable to facilitate the deployment of an airbag. | 02-02-2012 |
| 20120007281 | POWDER SLUSH MOLDING PROCESS AND EQUIPMENT - A powder slush molding process and associated equipment utilize a flow restrictor disposed between a powder box and a mold surface to deposit powdered resin onto the mold surface in a controlled manner, thereby forming skins having decreased variation in thickness. | 01-12-2012 |
| 20110254206 | PROCESS OF GRAINING THERMOPLASTIC SHEETS - A method of providing a coated and grained surface to a thermoplastic sheet for a vehicle interior panel. One step includes imparting a first grain to a show surface of a thermoplastic sheet. Another step includes applying a coating to a portion or more of the show surface. And another step includes imparting a second grain to the coated portion by bringing the coated portion into direct contact with a graining surface of a tool of a thermoforming machine. | 10-20-2011 |
| 20110214803 | VACUUM THERMOFORMING OF THERMOPLASTIC SHEETS WITH DECORATIVE INSERTS - A method of vacuum thermoforming a thermoplastic sheet together with a decorative insert. The decorative insert is placed on a first portion of a surface of a mold tool. The insert is retained in place by applying a localized vacuum to the insert via a plurality of passages through the first portion of the mold tool. The thermoplastic sheet can then be placed over the insert and over the remaining surface of the mold tool. The thermoplastic sheet is then drawn against the mold surface and over the decorative insert by applying a vacuum at a second portion of the surface. The mold surface can be grained or otherwise textured and this texture can extend continuously across the transition between the first and second portions. This permits use of the mold tool to apply a continuous textured surface when used to mold the thermoplastic sheet without the decorative insert. | 09-08-2011 |
