20120043914Apparatuses and methods for using a capacitive touch controller with a conductive surface - An apparatus includes a surface; the surface has a conductive layer within a thickness of the surface. A trench is formed in the conductive layer to define a touch area, the touch area is isolated from the rest of the conductive layer. A conductive pickup is mounted on a back side of the surface over the touch area and the conductive pickup is electrically connected to a capacitive touch controller, such that when a user touches the touch area on a front side of the conductive the touch controller responds to the user's touch.02-23-2012
20120036546Apparatuses and methods for translating multiple television control protocols at the television side - An apparatus includes a memory, a communications buss coupled to the memory and a processor. The processor is coupled to the communications bus and the processor is programmed to: receive a user command signal, the user command signal is initiated by a user of a television set; pass the user command signal to an external control unit (ECU); receive a television command signal from the ECU in response to the user command signal; translate the television command signal into an IM TV protocol command, wherein a translation protocol is selected for the ECU from n possible translation protocols which are stored in the memory; and transmit the IM TV protocol command to the television.02-09-2012
20120033312Apparatuses and methods for changing the appearance of an object mounted behind a mirror - An apparatus includes a mirror. The mirror has a transmissivity, a reflectivity, a front side, and a back side. The apparatus further includes a substantially transparent layer, the substantially transparent layer is located on the back side; and a dark layer, the dark layer contains an aperture and is applied to the substantially transparent layer wherein a combination of the mirror, the substantially transparent layer, and the dark layer have a combined reflectivity and a combined color when viewed from the front side which causes a media display device to vanish when the media display device is off and is mounted over the aperture on the back side of the mirror.02-09-2012
20110261475Backlight illumination in a mirror - A mirror assembly mountable to a wall, the mirror asembly includes a mirror platform having a front surface and a rear surface and a chassis, the chassis is engageable with the mirror platform to define a mirror assembly interior. The chassis is mountable to the wall, and the chassis has an outer edge section. The outer edge section further includes a plurality of areas, the plurality of areas permits light radiated from the mirror assembly interior to illuminate the surroundings of the mirror assembly.10-27-2011
20100290640Apparatuses and methods for playing handheld media device signals - An apparatus includes a support unit for a handheld media device. The support unit has a first surface and a second surface. The first surface is coupleable to a substantially planar object. The substantially planar object is configured for mounting in a vertical position. The second surface is sized to support the handheld media device when the handheld media device is placed thereon.11-18-2010
20090257140MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR A MIRROR ASSEMBLY - A mirror assembly mountable to a wall includes a mirror platform having a front surface and a rear surface, a chassis engageable with the mirror platform to define a mirror assembly interior, at least one electrical component disposed within the mirror assembly interior, and a mounting structure. The mounting structure includes a support member mounted to one of the rear surface of the mirror platform and the chassis and a hanger member mounted to the other of the rear surface of the mirror platform and the chassis. The hanger member is removably securable on the support member to mount the mirror platform to the chassis.10-15-2009
20090250586MIRROR WITH LOCKABLE MOUNTING SYSTEM - A mirror assembly includes a mirror and a hanger assembly secured to the mirror. The hanger assembly has a hanger fitting that defines a plurality of apertures, and a locking element that is slidably coupled to the hanger fitting to be movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The mirror assembly further includes a chassis having a plurality of support members sized and positioned to engage the plurality of apertures in the hanger fitting. When the locking element is in the locked position, the plurality of support members are prevented from disengaging the hanger fitting.10-08-2009
20090231836MIRROR WITH ATTACHMENT ASSEMBLY FOR DUAL LIGHT SOURCES - A mirror assembly includes a mirror and a light fixture configured to be releasably coupled to the mirror.
