20110021669BINDER FOR MATERIALS BASED ON WOOD CHIPS AND/OR WOOD FIBERS, METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SAID BINDER, AND MOLDED ARTICLE - The invention relates to a binder for producing materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers. The aim of the invention is to design a binder which is used for producing and gluing materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers, contains natural protein components, significantly reduces or even eliminates the drawbacks of the prior art, and can be economically produced and used. Said aim is achieved by a binder which is used for materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers, comprises an aldehyde-based condensation resin and other additives, and is characterized in that the binder comprises a water-soluble reactive additive containing a peptide/amino acid mixture without moieties of water-insoluble and high-viscosity proteins. The invention also relates to a method for producing said binder as well as a molded article.01-27-2011
20110015341Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins, Method for the Production Thereof and Use Thereof as Binders - A phenol-formaldehyde resin, which can be obtained by alkalinically catalyzed condensation of phenol and formaldehyde in the presence of at least one salt of inorganic acids and by neutralization by means of an inorganic or organic acid following the condensation, wherein the production takes place with the addition of at least one compound of the formula R01-20-2011
20110014487PROCESS FOR THE CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF HIGH EFFICIENT AQUEOUS AMINO FORMALDEHYDE RESIN SOLUTIONS - A system and method for the continuous production of an aqueous amino formaldehyde resin solution including the steps of (a) preparing a reaction mixture of an amino compound and an aqueous formaldehyde, (b) adding a catalyst to the reaction mixture, (c) condensation reacting the reaction mixture in the presence of the catalyst in a continuous plug flow, wherein in step (a) the amino compound and the formaldehyde are added as a concentrated aqueous solution or as a solid to a total solid content in the reaction mixture of 40-85 wt % (dry weight relative to the total weight of the reaction mixture), and in step (b) the catalyst is continuously added and finely dispersed into the reaction mixture through one or more addition points and optionally adding an amount of amino compound after condensation and/or removing water to reach a higher solid content.01-20-2011
20100310867RESIN FOR PRODUCING AN INORGANIC FIBER MATERIAL - A water dilutable binder resin for use in an inorganic fiber material; wherein the binder resin is prepared by reacting at least the following components in any order: (a) proteinaceous material which is substantially soluble in water at 20° C. and has a viscosity of <50 mPa*s for a 25 wt % aqueous solution, (b) an aromatic hydroxyl compound, and (c) an aldehyde, and wherein the water dilutable binder resin has a property of having a viscosity of <100 mPa*s when measured at a concentration of 50 wt % at 20° C. During curing, the resin thus produced gives lower phenol emissions. Also, the formaldehyde and ammonia emissions are dramatically lower when compared to conventional resins.12-09-2010
20100255248LAMINATE HAVING IMPROVED WEATHERABILITY - The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of a weather resistant laminate comprising a resin impregnated fibrous layer, preferably a resin impregnated decorative paper layer on a carrier layer. The invention further relates to laminates obtainable with the process according to the invention, to an intermediate laminate for use in the manufacture of the weather resistant laminate and to the use of said laminates. The process comprises the steps of providing a resin impregnated fibrous layer, curing the resin of the resin impregnated fibrous layer in a first curing step, wherein in said first curing step a contact pressure is applied to the resin impregnated fibrous layer, applying a resin coating layer on the at least partially cured resin impregnated fibrous layer, curing the resin of the resin coating layer in a separate second curing step and laminating the resin impregnated fibrous layer on at least one surface of a carrier layer before, during or after the first curing step, or laminating the cured and coated resin impregnated fibrous layer on at least one surface of a carrier layer before, during or after the second curing step.10-07-2010
20100239772WATER DILUTABLE RESIN COMPOSITION - The invention relates to a water dilutable resin composition including a resin that is a reaction product of an aldehyde and a hydroxyl-aromatic compound, the composition further including an amino compound comprising 2-6 amino groups and a sugar alcohol, wherein the resin has an initial molar ratio of aldehyde to hydroxyl-aromatic compound from 2.3 to 5.5, a ratio of resin to amino compound plus sugar alcohol of 45:55 to 70:30 parts by weight, a ratio of amino compound to resin between 20:80 and 50:50 parts by weight and a ratio of sugar alcohol to resin plus amino compound is between 5:95 and 30:70 parts by weight. The invention further relates to a process for the manufacture the resin composition, to the use of the resin composition as binder material for non-woven fibrous material, in particular insulation materials, and to a process for the manufacture of such insulation material.09-23-2010
20100233475MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURFACE TREATMENT - Low formaldehyde emission wood based panels are described. These wood based panels have an outer surface layer comprised of a resin composition comprising a naturally occurring component or derivative thereof which is chemically bound to an aromatic hydroxyl compound-aldehyde resin (ncPF). The advantages of having an outer surface layer of the resin composition comprising ncPF, is that the outer surface layer can act as a surface sealer to reduce migration of components from the core of the wood based panel to the surface. The outer surface layer is pleasing to the consumer because it forms light colored faces on the wood based panel. It is also a superior surface for after treatment, such as for example, painting, when compared to amino or phenol resins. In addition, the outer surface layer comprising the inventive resin composition comprising ncPF can lend added fire-retardancy to the wood based panel.09-16-2010
