20120084921UNIVERSAL BED SYSTEM - An adjustable bed system includes first and second end boards. A first height adjustment mechanism is secured to the first end board via a first mounting member and a second height adjustment mechanism is secured to the second end board via a second mounting member. The second height adjustment mechanism is independent of the first height adjustment mechanism. An external housing member is engagable with one of the first and second mounting members. A transition box is operatively engagable with one of the first and second height adjustment mechanisms. The transition box is positioned within the external housing such that the transition box is substantially inhibited from rotation during height adjustment of the bed system. A drive shaft interconnects the transition box, at a first end thereof, and the other of the first and second height adjustment mechanisms, at a second end thereof.04-12-2012
20110291381WHEELCHAIR HAVING AN ADJUSTABLE SEAT - A wheelchair having an adjustable seat includes a seat frame including first and second side support members. The side support members are extendable between a first position defining a first length and a second position defining a second length greater than the first length. A seat member is coupled at a first side thereof to the first side support member and at a second side thereof to the second side support member. The seat member extends between the first and second side support members to define a seat area having an initial depth corresponding to the first length of the side support members and a width corresponding to a distance between the side support members. The seat member includes an auxiliary portion for extending the seat member to an extended depth corresponding to the second length of the side support members.12-01-2011
20110272913ADJUSTABLE WALKER - An adjustable walker includes first and second side frames. Each side frame includes a front leg defining a fixed end and a free end and a rear leg defining a fixed end and a free end. The legs are coupled to one another at the fixed ends thereof and are extendable between a first position defining a first length and a second position defining a second length greater than the first length. Each leg includes a locking mechanism for releasably fixing the leg in each of the first and second positions. A side brace is coupled to the front and rear legs and includes a side rail extending transversely therebetween. The side brace is moveable along the legs between the fixed ends and the free ends thereof. The side brace includes a latching mechanism for releasably fixing the position of the side brace with respect to the legs.11-10-2011
20110271990HANDLE ASSEMBLY FOR CANE - The present disclosure relates to a cane with a novel handle assembly. The handle assembly includes, among other components, an inner frame, an outer cover, and a resilient filler that is positioned between the inner frame and the outer cover to provide the handle assembly with a measure of resiliency to increase the user's comfort during use. In one embodiment of the disclosure, it is envisioned that the handle assembly may include a fluorescent material to facilitate location of the cane in poorly lit, or dim, areas.11-10-2011
20110271443UNIVERSAL BED SYSTEM - The present disclosure relates to an adjustable bed system including a bed frame that is adjustable in height. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the adjustable bed system includes first and second end boards each having an independent height adjustment mechanism. A frame assembly configured and dimensioned to be secured to the first end board at a first end thereof and to the second end board at a second end thereof includes a frame and a transition box. The transition box is secured to the frame at the first end thereof and is operatively engagable with the height adjustment mechanism of the first end board. A drive shaft adjustable between first and second lengths is coupled at a first end thereof to the transition box and at a second end thereof to the second end board to facilitate uniform height adjustment of the first and second end boards.11-10-2011
