20080314236 | Door seal assembly for armored vehicles - A door seal assembly for an armored vehicle includes a first flange extending around the periphery of a door panel and protruding from a cab-facing side thereof. The first flange extends toward the exterior surface of the armored vehicle when the door panel is in a secured-closed condition. A second flange also protrudes from the cab-facing side of the door panel and extends into the opening of the armored vehicle when the door panel is in the secured-closed condition. The second flange being nested within the first flange and spaced-apart therefrom so as to form a channel between the first flange and the second flange and extending around the door panel along the cab-facing side thereof. A third flange protrudes from the exterior surface of the armored vehicle and extends about the opening thereof. The third flange is received within the channel that is defined between the first flange and the second flange when the door panel is in the secured-closed condition. During use, a blast wave resulting from a detonation beside the armored vehicle is redirected plural times as it passes by the first, second and third flanges before entering the cab interior. | 12-25-2008 |
20080231472 | System and method for identifying an aircraft during approach to a stopping position - A method for guiding an aircraft toward a stopping position within an aircraft stand of an airport comprises using a visual docking guidance system (VDGS) associated with the aircraft stand for displaying first instructions for guiding the aircraft toward the stopping position. The first instructions are based on an initial determination of the aircraft-type and on first sensed positional information of the aircraft. Aircraft-type data that is stored in a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag carried by the aircraft is then read. Using the VDGS, second instructions are displayed for guiding the aircraft toward the stopping position based on the aircraft-type data and based on second sensed positional information of the aircraft. | 09-25-2008 |
20080229525 | System and method for guiding an aircraft to a stopping position - A method for guiding an aircraft toward a stopping position within an aircraft stand of an airport includes receiving a radio frequency (RF) signal from a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag that is carried by the aircraft. The RF signal comprises aircraft-type data that is retrievably stored in an integrated circuit of the RFID tag, the aircraft-type data being indicative of a type of the aircraft. A current location of the aircraft is sensed, and based on the aircraft-type data and the sensed current location of the aircraft, instructions are determined for guiding the aircraft from the current location thereof to a predetermined stopping position for the type of the aircraft. Using a visual docking guidance system (VDGS) associated with the aircraft stand, the instructions are displayed in human-intelligible form for being viewed by a user aboard the aircraft. | 09-25-2008 |
