In one embodiment, the compositions include particulate material and one or more plant growth regulating compounds such as non-gaseous plant hormones, amino acids and amino acid derivatives, and terpenes, and mixtures thereof. The composition is applied to at least part of the surface of the plant, forming a film on the plant.
