20140155299 | USE OF OLIGO-QUATERNARY COMPOSITIONS TO INCREASE SCALE INHIBITOR LIFETIME IN A SUBTERRANEAN FORMATION - A method of inhibiting scale in a subterranean formation comprises pretreating the subterranean formation with a polyquaternary amine that serves as a squeeze life extention (SLE) agent, and then introducing a scale inhibitor pill into the subterranean formation, wherein the scale inhibitor pill includes one or more scale inhibitor compositions. For example, the polyquaternary amine may be a polymer having up to 5 quaternary amine centers, but is preferably a nonpolymeric diquaternary amine having a molecular weight of from 250 to 500. One such example is 1,3-propandiaminium, 2-hydroxy-N,N,N,N′,N′,N′-hexamethyl-, dichloride. The SLE agent is preferably introduced into the formation in a brine solution having a concentration from 0.1 to 20 weight percent. The SLE agents may be used with a variety of known scale inhibitors and scale inhibitor chemistries. | 06-05-2014 |

20140051610 | ENVIRONMENTALLY BENEFICIAL RECYCLING OF BRINES IN THE PROCESS OF REDUCING FRICTION RESULTING FROM TURBULENT FLOW - Processes are provided for reducing the hydrodynamic friction of a turbulent brine stream including, for example, the step of injecting a mixture of a finely divided free flowing friction reducing powder into the turbulent brine stream, wherein the particles of the powder have a primary particle size between 10 and 100 microns in average particle diameter, and the brine stream comprises water with at least 90,000 ppm total dissolved solids, wherein the total dissolved solids includes at least 30,000 ppm sodium cations, 10,000 ppm calcium cations, and 1,000 ppm magnesium cations, and wherein the brine has an electrical conductivity of greater than 100.0 mS/cm at 25° C. For use with a harsher brine, the particles preferably have a primary particle size between 10 and 53 microns in average particle diameter. The friction reducing powder may, for example, be a polyacrylamide polymer. | 02-20-2014 |
20130180723 | FRACTURING FLUIDS INCLUDING AMINE OXIDES AS FLOWBACK AIDS - An aqueous fracturing fluid comprises an environmentally friendly flowback aid. The flowback aid includes an amine oxide having the formula (CH | 07-18-2013 |
20120264655 | THERMO-RESPONSIVE HYDROGELS AND THERMO-RESPONSIVE POLYMER SOLUTIONS - Polymers and hydrogels that are provided that are thermo-responsive, such as thermo-thickening polymers and hydrogels, as well as aqueous solutions whose rheological properties may be modified by including the polymers, hydrogels, or combinations thereof. Such thermo-responsive polymers or hydrogels, or aqueous solutions including the polymers or hydrogels, may be used as additives to reservoir drilling fluids (RDF's), fluid loss control (FLC) pills, hydraulic fracturing fluids (frac fluids), and lost circulation (LC) pills. The polymers or hydrogels may impart a rheological profile that is generally flat with respect to variations in the shear-rate and temperature environment in which drilling fluids, RDF's, FLC pills, frac fluids, and LC pills are deployed. Embodiments include the process of producing a high performance filtercake through the application of thermo-responsive hydrogels and/or thermo-responsive polymer solutions. | 10-18-2012 |
