System Architecture and Method for Secure Web Browsing Using Public Computers - A secure web browsing method and web browsing security system architecture for a mobile device that has initiated an internet communication session via a local area network (LAN) are provided. The architecture establishes a communication link between the mobile device and a computer having an internet browser capable of internet communication via the LAN. A routine is transmitted from the mobile device to the computer via the communication link. The routine synchronizes page content of the mobile device to the computer's internet browser. The architecture (i) detects user-supplied inputs to the page content on the computer's internet browser, (ii) generates a verification request at the mobile device when at least a portion of the user-supplied inputs are so-detected, and (iii) transmits the user-supplied inputs from the mobile device as an internet communication via the LAN only when the verification request is confirmed by the user at the mobile device. The architecture also processes each new page loaded at the mobile device to perform at least one of removal and obfuscation of selected information associated with the new page in order to generate a modified page that is transmitted to the computer using the communication link. The page content of the computer's internet browser is updated to the modified page using the routine previously transmitted to the computer via the communication link. | 03-29-2012
Dental Ultrasonography - Methods and devices are described that enable real-time, hand-held diagnostic ultrasonography for use in dental practice. The methods and devices utilize circumferential surface wave modes that are highly sensitive to small surface and near surface flaws. In addition, these surface waves can propagate between the teeth, following the curvature of the tooth. | 02-16-2012
CLIENT SIDE USERNAME/PASSWORD CREDENTIAL PROTECTION - A method of protecting username/password (U/P) credentials operates on a client computer that cooperates with an anti-phishing scheme that generates a client warning at the client computer when a suspected phishing website issues a U/P request. At the client computer, a set of S fake U/P credentials is generated when the client warning is heeded, or a set of (S−1) fake U/P credentials are derived from a client-supplied U/P credential provided after the client warning is ignored. The client computer then transmits to the suspected phishing website one of (i) the set of S fake U/P credentials, and (ii) the client-supplied U/P credential along with the set of (S−1) fake U/P credentials. | 05-26-2011
Dual Tendering for Chair Massages on Academic Campuses - The accessibility of chair massages on an academic campus is improved by modifying an electronic currency acceptor to interface with a multi-drop bus (MDB) card reader. The electronic currency acceptor so-modified with the MDB card reader is then installed on a vending massage chair to thereby form an updated vending massage chair. The updated vending massage chair is placed at a location in a building on an academic campus. | 09-16-2010
Fishing Trap with Degradable Cull Ring Panel - Herein we describe crustacean fishing traps having degradable cull ring panels, as well as methods for ensuring that such traps have reduced functionality after becoming derelict. Derelict crab and lobster traps have a negative economic and ecological impact, and thus it is advantageous to use degradable traps that will lose their ability to catch and retain fish over time. Incorporating degradable cull ring panels into such traps provides an effective, economical solution. Suitable degradable cull ring panels are described herein. | 07-29-2010
SOLID OXIDE PROTON CONDUCTOR SYSTEM AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME FOR ENHANCED PROTON TRANSPORT - A proton conductor system includes a solid oxide having at least one hydrogen vibrational mode defined by a bandwidth and resonance frequency. A light source irradiates the solid oxide with infrared light in a wavelength band having a center frequency matching the resonance frequency. | 05-13-2010
Silicon Oxynitride Coating Compositions - Silicon oxynitride compositions are described herein. These compositions are typically deposited onto substrates using a nitrogen plasma-based, reactive sputtering method. Depending on their composition, these coatings can be used for field emission suppression, dielectric applications, reflection control, and surface passivation. | 11-12-2009
Crab Trap with Degradable Cull Ring Panel - Herein we describe crab traps having degradable cull ring panels, as well as methods for ensuring that crab traps have reduced functionality after becoming derelict. Derelict crab traps have a negative economic and ecological impact, and thus it is advantageous to use degradable crab traps that will lose their ability to catch and retain fish over time. Incorporating degradable cull ring panels into crab traps provides an effective, economical solution. Suitable degradable cull ring panels are described herein. | 10-08-2009
Nasal Inspiratory Resistance Trainer - Devices and methods useful for enhancing respiration quality in humans are described herein. In particular, the present invention relates to devices and methods useful for the treatment, prevention, and/or management of respiratory disorders and associated complications. Herein, a training device is described that increases the difficulty of nasal breathing. | 08-20-2009
METHOD FOR GENERATING SURFACE-SILVERED POLYMER STRUCTURES - A process is described for forming a conductive silver surface on a solid polymer article. An acid-containing polymer and silver ions are dissolved in an appropriate solvent, and a solid polymer article is formed by known methods. The solid polymer is treated with a chemical reducing agent to yield a conductive silver surface, useful in a wide range of applications. Patterned silver conductive surfaces can also be produced. | 06-11-2009
Carbon Nanoflake Compositions and Methods of Production - Novel compositions and morphologies of carbon nanoflakes are described, as well as methods for making carbon nanoflakes using a radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD) process. Acetylene is used as a CVD source gas. By utilizing high concentrations of acetylene in the CVD source gas at relatively low temperatures, carbon nanoflake growth rate and robustness are improved, and the resulting carbon nanoflakes have enhanced height uniformity. | 01-08-2009
