20120060434PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES - A photovoltaic module includes a photovoltaic element, and a substrate coupled to the photovoltaic element comprising an amorphous phase material, wherein the substrate comprises a compression region abutting an external surface of the substrate. Additionally, the compression region extends for an average depth into the substrate of at least about 50 microns.03-15-2012
20100281801Foamed Building Panel, Clip and System for Installation - A building panel has a unitary foamed core, and a unitary cover layer of resinous polymeric material covering the core and covering a bottom edge or drip edge and an upper edge of the panel. A system for installation of adjacent panels includes the adjacent panels having vertical clip-receiving grooves slidably receiving narrow edges of a clip. The clip holds adjacent panels in coplanar abutting relationship to minimize movement while installed on a wall of a building.11-11-2010
20100129622MULTILAYER ARTICLE WITH VARIEGATED APPEARANCE - A variegated capstock for covering a substrate for a building product has polymeric streaks in a non-clear, non-opaque matrix. Rapid cooling of the matrix minimizes formation of crystallites, such that the polymeric streaks become visible through a surface of the non-opaque matrix. The streaks are visible by having a color or an index of refraction different from that of the matrix. The matrix is in one or more layers, and the polymeric streaks are in the layers. The substrate is visible through the non-clear, non-opaque matrix and can appear partially obscured by the non-clear, non-opaque matrix.05-27-2010
20100126663METHOD OF FORMING A ROOFING PRODUCT INCLUDING A CERAMIC BASE MATERIAL AND RECYCLED ROOFING MATERIAL - A method of forming a roofing product can include providing a ceramic base material having an open structure. The method can also include filling the open structure of the ceramic base material with a bituminous material, wherein the bituminous material has no greater than approximately 5 weight % of abrasive particles. The method can further include applying a recycled roofing material adjacent to the ceramic base material after filling the open structure of the ceramic base material with the bituminous material. In a particular embodiment, an open structure of the ceramic base material is filled with a bituminous material that has no greater than approximately 2 weight % of abrasive particles or 0.1 weight % metal content. The recycled roofing material can be applied along one or both sides of the ceramic base material. The bituminous material may have a characteristic particle size that is smaller than a characteristic particle size of the recycled roofing material. In another embodiment, the roofing product having the recycled roofing material can have tear strength characteristics as compared to a different roofing product having a substantially the same construction but having abrasive particles embedded within the ceramic base material.05-27-2010
20090241436ROOF STRUCTURE WITH SNOW GUARD AND METHOD OF INSTALLING - A roof structure and a method of installing a snow guard on the base of a roof is provided, wherein the roof structure includes a plurality of synthetic shingles of thermoplastic materials, and where a snow guard is provided having an outwardly projecting snow-engaging platform and an oppositely provided hook at an upper end, wherein the hook is adapted to engage over and upper edge of a butt portion of one or more shingles in an underlying course of shingles, and wherein a tab portion of a shingle in a next-overlying course of shingles is disposed over the upper end of the snow guard, substantially covering its base, and wherein the snow-engaging platform is adapted to receive snow and ice that may slide down the roof, to intercept the same or break the snow or ice up into small harmless particles. The synthetic shingles of thermoplastic materials allow for the upward bending of the overlying tab portions of shingles a substantial amount within their elastic limit, to permit insertion of snow guards under tab portions of overlying shingles, where such tab portions of overlying shingles are already-installed on a roof, followed by a relaxation of the upwardly bent tab portions of shingles back to a flattened condition overlying the butt portions of shingles in an underlying course of shingles, and overlying the base of the snow guard between the platform and hook, due to the inherent memory of the original flattened shape of the shingles that have their tab portions flexibly upwardly bent.10-01-2009
20090100778FACED FIBERGLASS BOARD WITH IMPROVED SURFACE TOUGHNESS - An insulation product is provided comprising a sheet of randomly oriented fibers bonded by a binder. The sheet has first and second major surfaces and a pair of side portions. A facing layer is bonded to at least one of the major surfaces. A region of the sheet proximate to the facing layer is more puncture resistant than a remainder of the sheet.04-23-2009
20080289295CLADDING ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF CLADDING POSTS - A cladding assembly comprises first and second cladding panels, each having top and bottom edge portions and a pair of lateral sides, and a corner connection element disposed to couple a pair of adjacent lateral sides of the first and second cladding panels together. The corner connection element includes top and bottom edge portions and a pair of lateral sides, wherein the corner connection element comprises a pair of female connectors disposed at its lateral sides and the pair of adjacent lateral sides of the first and second cladding panels comprises a pair of male connectors for mating with the female connectors, or wherein the corner connection element comprises a pair of male connectors disposed at its lateral sides and the pair of adjacent lateral sides of the first and second cladding panels comprises a pair of female connectors for mating with the male connectors of the corner connection element.11-27-2008
