Typically, each screed plate has a single temperature sensor. When one temperature sensor fails, the controller will look for a working temperature sensor amongst the other screed plates and if more than one temperature sensor is working, the controller will choose the most relevant temperature sensor and use the data from the working temperature sensor to operate the resistive heating elements on the screed plate with the non-functional temperature sensor. If the temperature sensor on an outer screed plate fails, the controller will look to the other outer screed plate temperature sensor for data for purposes of operating the resistive heating elements on the outer screed plate with a broken temperature sensor. Similarly, if the temperature sensor on an inner or central screed plate fails, the controller will look to a neighboring screed plate with a working temperature sensor for data for purposes of operating the inner or center screed plate with the broken temperature sensor. The electronic controller monitors the current level in the solenoid coil circuit, and changes to a reduced battery voltage when the current level in the solenoid coil circuit reaches a predetermined trigger current. The controller then maintains a pull-in current based upon battery voltage for a pull-in duration that initiates movement of the solenoid armature from an initial air gap position toward a final air gap position. After the pull-in duration, the current level is dropped to a hold in level for the remaining duration of the actuation event. The solenoid may be used for fuel injector control and/or pump control, such as to control fuel injection and pumping events respectively.03-22-2012

With each reciprocation cycle, a plunger displaces a fixed volume of fluid. When less than this fixed volume is desired as the output from the pump, the electronically controlled throttle inlet valve throttles flow past a passive inlet check valve to reduce output. As a consequence, cavitation bubbles are generated during the intake stroke. Cavitation damage to surfaces that define the inlet port passage are avoided by a specifically shaped and sized cavitation flow adjuster extending from the valve member of the passive inlet check valve.
