20110318469Barley with reduced lipoxygenase activity and beverage prepared therefrom - According to the invention, there is provided barley with total loss of functional lipoxygenase (LOX)-1 and LOX-2 enzymes, and plant products produced thereof, such as malt manufactured by using barley kernels defective in the synthesis of the fatty acid-dioxygenating enzymes LOX-1 and LOX-2. Said enzymes account for the principal activities related to dioxygenation of linoleic acid into 9- and 13-hydroperoxy octadecadienoic acid, respectively. 9-Hydroperoxy octadecadienoic acid represents a LOX pathway metabolite, which—through further enzymatic or spontaneous reactions—may lead to the appearance of trans-2-nonenal (T2N). The invention enables brewers to produce a beer having insignificant levels of stale, T2N-specific off-flavors, even after prolonged storage of the beverage.12-29-2011
20110293779BARLEY AND MALT-DERIVED BEVERAGES WITH LOW DMS LEVEL - According to the invention, there is provided barley-derived beverages characterized by notably reduced levels of both dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and/or its precursor S-methyl-L-methionine (SMM), or lacking said compounds. In addition, the invention relates to methods for producing the above-mentioned beverages—and also to barley plants useful in the preparation of such beverages, as well as other plant products prepared from said plants. Utilization of the invention clears the way for making improved production procedures of beverages with improved taste profiles, and promises also for notable reductions in the thermal energy input for production of beer.12-01-2011
20110271692SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING A SELF COOLING CONTAINER - The present invention relates to a container for storing a beverage, the container having a container body and a closure and defining an inner chamber, the inner chamber defining an inner volume and including a specific volume of the beverage. The container further includes a cooling device having a housing defining a housing volume. The cooling device includes at least two separate, substantially non-toxic reactants causing an entropy-increasing reaction producing substantially non-toxic products in a stoichiometric number. The at least two separate substantially non-toxic reactants initially being included in the cooling device are separated from one another and causing an entropy-increasing reaction and a heat reduction of the beverage of at least 50 Joules/ml beverage. The cooling device further includes an actuator for initiating the reaction between the at least two separate, substantially non-toxic reactants.11-10-2011
20110186600METHOD FOR CLEANING AND FLUSHING A BEVERAGE DISPENSING SYSTEM - A method and a system of cleaning and flushing a beverage dispensing system comprising a sealable pressure chamber for receiving a collapsible keg containing a beverage and a dispensing valve, comprises: providing a first cartridge containing a cleaning fluid, positioning the first cartridge in the pressure chamber and pressurising the pressure chamber, opening the dispensing valve and dispensing the cleaning fluid from the dispensing valve, and causing the cleaning fluid to flow from the first cartridge through the dispensing line and being dispensed from the dispensing valve, disconnecting the first cartridge after the emptying of the cleaning fluid from the first cartridge, and removing the first cartridge, providing a second cartridge containing a flushing fluid, positioning the second cartridge in the pressure chamber and pressurising the pressure chamber, and repeating the steps (iii)-(v) while using the second cartridge instead of the first cartridge.08-04-2011
20100276452MODULE FOR A MODULAR BEVERAGE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM - The present invention relates to a module (11-04-2010
20100192598DISPENSING LINE COOLING - A beverage-dispensing assembly having a cooling system includes a dispensing tower having an outer wall defining an inside first channel between a first end and a second end of the tower, wherein a second channel and a third channel are provided in the first channel. The second channel is configured to accommodate a dispensing line, and the third channel is in fluid communication with the second channel at the second end of the tower.08-05-2010
20100181338ASSEMBLY FOR DISPENSING BEVERAGE - An assembly for dispensing a beverage includes a collapsible beverage container having a neck part with an outlet. A connecting element is arranged at the neck part so as to receive an inlet end of a dispensing line. The beverage container is contained in a pressure chamber having an interior configured to accommodate the beverage container and a lid. The connecting element is configured for abutment with the lid of the pressure chamber to form a seal between the lid and the beverage container during use.07-22-2010
