20120083176Anti-Ingestion System for a Marine Drive - An anti-ingestion system is provided for a marine drive with a submerged exhaust outlet. An anti-ingestion valve is operated by differential pressure thereacross to a closed condition when the engine is operating in an on state and cooling water is being pumped through a water conduit to an exhaust mixing point, with the anti-ingestion valve blocking passage of cooling water therepast in the noted closed condition. The anti-ingestion valve is operated by differential pressure thereacross to an open condition when the engine is in an off state, and permits passage of air therethrough and communicates atmospheric pressure through the water conduit to the exhaust mixing point to relieve vacuum in the exhaust system.04-05-2012
20110195623Cooling Systems and Methods for Hybrid Marine Propulsion Systems - Cooling systems and methods for hybrid marine propulsion systems are disclosed. A first cooling circuit is arranged to convey raw cooling water through an internal combustion engine and to at least one drive component of a drive unit for the marine propulsion system. A second control circuit is arranged to convey raw cooling water through an electric motor. The system is arranged such that raw cooling water in the second cooling circuit is conveyed to the first cooling circuit to cool the drive component without cooling the component of the internal combustion engine.08-11-2011
20110195618Systems and Methods for Controlling Battery Performance in Hybrid Marine Propulsion Systems - A hybrid propulsion system has an internal combustion engine and an electric motor that each selectively powers a marine propulsor to propel a marine vessel. A plurality of batteries discharges current to power the motor. A controller is programmed to aggregate the recharge and/or discharge limits of plurality of batteries and then operate the system according to a method that preferably prevents internal fault and disconnection of batteries in the plurality.08-11-2011
20110153126Systems and Methods for Orienting a Marine Vessel to Enhance Available Thrust - Systems and methods for orienting a marine vessel enhance available thrust in a station keeping mode. A control device having a memory and a programmable circuit is programmed to control operation of a plurality of marine propulsion devices to maintain orientation of a marine vessel in a selected global position. The control device is programmed to calculate a direction of a resultant thrust vector associated with the plurality of marine propulsion devices that is necessary to maintain the vessel in the selected global position. The control device is programmed to control operation of the plurality of marine propulsion devices to change the actual heading of the marine vessel to align the actual heading with the thrust vector.06-23-2011
20110153125Systems and Methods for Orienting a Marine Vessel to Minimize Pitch or Roll - Systems and methods for orienting a marine vessel minimize at least one of pitch and roll in a station keeping mode. A control device having a memory and a programmable circuit is programmed to control operation of the plurality of marine propulsion devices to maintain orientation of a marine vessel in a selected global position and heading. The control device receives at least one of actual pitch and actual roll of the marine vessel in the global position and controls operation of the plurality of marine propulsion units to change the heading of the marine vessel to minimize at least one of the actual pitch and the actual roll while maintaining the marine vessel in the selected global position.06-23-2011
20100144219Marine Vessel Hybrid Propulsion System - A marine propulsion system is configured to allow many different combinations and interconnections between three internal combustion engines, three generators, two motors, two clutches, two marine propulsion devices, and an electrical storage device. By appropriately interconnecting these devices in advantageous combinations, energy consumption can be reduced, operational efficiency of the engine can be improved, and redundancy can be provided in the event that one or more components are disabled.06-10-2010
20100087107PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR MARINE VESSEL - The invention concerns a marine vessel propulsion system that can be set into an opening of a boat's hull and which comprises a propulsion and steering unit (04-08-2010
20100003416Apparatus and Method for Making Preforms in Mold - Apparatus and a method of preparing fiber preforms disperses fibers and binder on a forming support surface such that the materials are conditioned and then applied to the surface where the composite material solidifies. Reinforcing material, such as fiber, is mixed with binder, such as thermoplastic or thermoset materials, so that the materials adhere. Then, the adhesive mixture is dispersed in a controlled predetermined weight ratio on the support surface where the mixture sticks to the support surface, cools and solidifies. The deposited mixture can be an open mat having interstices between fibers. The deposited mixture can also be shaped further into a final desired shape before complete solidification. This method eliminates the need for solvents and their associated problems. The process does not require a vacuum or plenum system to hold the reinforcing material in place. The preform can be made in any shape, including sections or asymmetric configurations and remain in mold while being processed to a composite molded article.01-07-2010
20080249421CONTACT PRESSURE SENSING APPARATUS FOR USE WITH EXERCISE EQUIPMENT SENSORS - Contact pressure sensing apparatus for use with exercise equipment sensors are described. An example apparatus includes a sensor to detect a physiological condition of a user of an exercise device through physical contact with the user and a pressure sensor to detect a contact pressure applied by the user to the sensor.10-09-2008
20080242511USER INTERFACE METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING EXERCISE APPARATUS - User interface methods and apparatus for controlling exercise apparatus are disclosed. An example user interface includes an exercise parameter input and an indicator associated with the exercise parameter input, and a control unit to activate the indicator in response to a training routine to prompt a user of the exercise apparatus to adjust an operation of the exercise apparatus via the exercise parameter input.10-02-2008
