20110054347Devices for Selective Recruitment, Isolation, Activation, and/or Elimination of Various Cell Populations - Implantable devices comprise at least one or more targeting molecules that form a primary coating layer for selectively recruiting, isolating, activating, and/or eliminating any cells of interest, such as T cells, monocytes, and stem cells. The implantable devices can be utilized for selectively removing a particular subset of cells from bodily fluids of a patient. Various non-selective pharmaceutical agents and biological agents can be incorporated into the implantable devices so that cells of interest can be isolated for elimination or for activation/differentiation. Cell-type selectivity is conferred by the presence of cell-type-specific targeting molecules incorporated into the implantable device, preferably at the surface level to permit direct or indirect interaction between the cells of interest and targeting molecules of the implantable device. Related therapeutic methods for utilizing the implantable devices are also provided. These implantable devices can be manufactured as a stent, a catheter, a holding chamber, or any other device, and can be manufactured into any shape, including a conduit, a vessel, and a tubing.03-03-2011
20080287856Process and apparatus for treating biological organisms - An apparatus for treating a biological organism comprising a device for emitting and delivering energy to the biological organism, a programmable controller for varying the type and amount of energy emitted, and apparatus for sensing a condition of the biological organism.11-20-2008
20080286278Process for in vivo treatment of specific biological targets in bodily fluids - A process for treating biological targets in a fluid of a biological organism, including introducing a fluid comprising a biological target to an assembly comprising an inlet connected to receive the fluid and an outlet connected to pass the fluid from the assembly, wherein the assembly comprises a flow chamber for conveying a flow of the fluid, and a capture zone comprising a target-specific binding agent, wherein during flow of the fluid through the flow chamber, the biological target undergoes flux rolling along the target-specific binding agent.11-20-2008
20080280353Hybrid nucleic acid assembly - A detection device comprised of a hybrid nucleic acid assembly. The device further comprises a nucleic acid polymer, a first nanoparticle conjugated to the nucleic acid polymer, a second nanoparticle conjugated with the nucleic acid polymer, a means for introducing energy into the first nanoparticle, means for detecting energy from the second nanoparticle, and means for determining a physical property of the nucleic acid polymer, wherein the means of introducing energy into the first nanoparticle is a source of mechanical energy.11-13-2008
20080200968BIOTHERMAL POWER SOURCE FOR IMPLANTABLE DEVICES - An implantable, rechargeable assembly comprised of an implantable device disposed within a living organism, an electrical storage device connected to the implantable device, and a thermoelectric charging assembly operatively connected to the electrical storage device. The thermoelectric charging assembly has devices for transferring thermal energy between the living organism and a thermoelectric module, for generating an electrical current from the thermal energy, for charging the electrical storage device with the electrical current, for determining the extent to which the electrical storage device is being charged with the electrical current, and for generating a signal whenever the extent to which the electrical storage device is being charged with the electrical current falls below a specified value.08-21-2008
