20110143398Methods of saccharification of polysaccharides in plants - Saccharification of polysaccharides of plants is provided, where release of fermentable sugars from cellulose is obtained by adding plant tissue composition. Production of glucose is obtained without the need to add additional β-glucosidase. Adding plant tissue composition to a process using a cellulose degrading composition to degrade cellulose results in an increase in the production of fermentable sugars compared to a process in which plant tissue composition is not added. Using plant tissue composition in a process using a cellulose degrading enzyme composition to degrade cellulose results in decrease in the amount of cellulose degrading enzyme composition or exogenously applied cellulase required to produce fermentable sugars.06-16-2011

20110091976Regulatory region preferentially expressing to seed embryo and method of using same04-21-2011
20090217418Means and methods of controlling plant seed germination - A method of controlling germination of seed is provided in which a nucleic acid encoding a protein which causes inhibition of germination is transformed into a plant, operably linked with a promoter that expresses during germination. The protein is one in which a restoring substance can be applied to the seed and restores germination. Also provided is an amylase germination preferred promoter.08-27-2009
20090205086Commercial production of polysaccharide degrading enzymes in plants and methods of using same - Expression of recombinant polysaccharide degrading enzymes in plants is described. In one embodiment, expression of the enzyme is preferentially directed to the seed of the plant. Expression may also be preferentially targeted to specific locations within the plant cell. Expression of cellulases in corn is shown. The result is the capacity to produce polysaccharide degrading enzymes in plants at commercially acceptable levels in a reliable manner. Methods of using same in production of ethanol is also described, including use of the plant-produced enzymes in the ethanol production process.08-13-2009
