20120173665 | METHOD AND DEVICE FOR EXECUTING APPLICATION RELATED TO A/V CONTENT - A device and method for executing an application related to Audio/Video (A/V) content are provided. The device includes a controller for obtaining an identifier of the application, for sending a query message including the identifier and platform information of the device to a download server having a predefined address, for receiving a response message to the query message, and for executing the application based on the response message, and a transceiver for performing an operation of sending and receiving the query message and the response message, thereby making it possible to provide applications related to A/V content to all types of application execution devices regardless of the types of platforms of the devices. Thus, A/V content providers may provide applications to A/V content consumers without the limitations on the data broadcasting networks and the recording capacity of the media. | 07-05-2012 |
20110030008 | Apparatus and method for providing mini electronic program guide information in a digital broadcast receiver - A method and apparatus for providing Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information in a digital broadcast receiver, in which upon receipt of a request for EPG information from a viewer in a situation where specific broadcast content is being broadcasted, at least one pop-up window is sequentially activated in a partial region of a full screen, and at least one of the specific broadcast content and EPG information about broadcast content selected by the viewer is displayed on each of the activated at least one pop-up window. | 02-03-2011 |
20100169915 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING ADVERTISEMENT SERVICE IN DIGITAL BROADCAST RECEIVER - A method for providing an advertisement service in a digital broadcast receiver is disclosed. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal over a broadcast network; extracting configuration data of lattice-type video contents and at least one advertisement video from the received broadcast signal; editing the extracted configuration data of lattice-type video contents and displaying the edited configuration data on a display means of a user terminal as a channel selection screen; upon receipt of a focus move request from a user while providing the channel selection screen, selecting a video content corresponding to the focus move request; and if a focus moved by the focus move request of the user has been located on the selected video content for a predetermined time or more, displaying the advertisement video on the display means in contiguity with the selected video content. | 07-01-2010 |
20100125874 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING SCREEN CONFIGURATION OF BROADCAST CONTENTS RECEIVED IN DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER - Disclosed a method and apparatus for providing received broadcast data in a digital broadcasting system. The apparatus for controlling a screen configuration in a digital broadcasting receiver includes: a data reception/conversion unit for receiving head-end-side data including configuration data of lattice-type moving picture contents sent through a broadcasting network, and converting the received data into content screen configuration data; and a content screen configuration unit for editing content screen configuration data converted by the data reception/conversion unit, disposing the content screen configuration data according to each category in a display means of a user terminal, and performing a control operation such that the first category and the last category among multiple categories displayed through the display means are cyclically connected and displayed. | 05-20-2010 |
20090125944 | NOVEL DIGITAL BROADCASTING VIEWING METHOD USING MY CHANNEL AND SYSTEM THEREOF - The present invention relates to a digital broadcasting viewing method. The method in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that a user can watch preference programs by selection of a particular virtual channel. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of (a) assigning at least one channel that is not allocated to broadcast regular programs by broadcasting stations as my channel, (b) bookmarking a program that a user wants to watch to the my channel based on a program guide information, and (c) in response to selection of the my channel by the user, displaying the bookmarked program on television screen of the user. Two or more channels may be assigned as my channel. Compared with the conventional method that allows only one channel to be reserved for the same time, the present invention makes it possible to reserve as many channels as the number of My Channels for the same time. By changing between the My Channels, the user can enjoy his/her preference programs without the complicated channel search. Since channel changing to the preference programs is carried out only by the user's My Channel selection, the interruption caused by automatic channel change in the conventional reservation system can be avoided. | 05-14-2009 |
20090064225 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SCREEN LAYOUT IN DIGITAL BROADCAST RECEIVER FOR RECEIVING MOVING PICTURE CONTENT - Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for screen display in a digital broadcast receiver for receiving moving picture contents. The method includes: receiving head-end side data including configuration data of lattice-type moving picture contents sent via a broadcasting network, and converting the received head-end side data into content picture configuration data; editing the content picture configuration data and configuring a curved-type circular selection picture so as to display the edited content picture configuration data through the curved-type circular selection picture on a display means of a user terminal; and displaying the configured curved-type circular selection picture containing the moving picture contents on the display means of the user terminal. | 03-05-2009 |
20090037387 | METHOD FOR PROVIDING CONTENTS AND SYSTEM THEREFOR - Disclosed is a method for providing contents using a keyword, and a system therefor. The content provision method includes the steps of generating keywords for broadcast programs, extracting contents by using the keywords, and providing a user interface (UI) to provide the contents by displaying the keywords on a display unit. Accordingly, the inconvenience and troublesomeness of character input are eliminated, and it is possible to satisfy the users' desires for acquisition of knowledge and information by actively providing various information to the users. | 02-05-2009 |
20080229364 | System and Method for the Construction of Electronic Program Guide Through Cooperative Transmission of Electronic Program Guide Data - The present invention relates to a system and a method for the construction of EPG service through cooperative transmission of electronic program guide data. The system of the present invention comprises an EPG transmission server transmitting, through a forward path mediated by a broadcasting network, a part of total EPG data to be transmitted to a settop box and data into which request commands for remaining EPG data not transmitted via the broadcasting network are embedded; an EPG head end server transmitting the remaining EPG data in response to user's request through a return path mediated by a communication network; and a settop box equipped with an EPG application which processes the EPG data received from the EPG transmission server and the EPG head end server. The EPG data transmitted via the broadcasting network includes both a service description table and an event information table. The system and the method for the construction of EPG service in accordance with the present invention require a significantly reduced broadcasting bandwidth for the EPG data transmission, compared with the conventional method or system. EPG service construction can be achieved using the broadcasting bandwidth of 2 M or smaller. Also, the system is applicable to various EPG applications without sacrificing user's satisfaction at all. | 09-18-2008 |
