20110208176 | Systems and/or methods for using coherent electromagnetic waves to treat tumors and/or other growths - Certain example embodiments relate to techniques for using coherent electromagnetic (EM) waves to treat tumors and/or other growths. In certain example embodiments, a growth is imaged. Based on this image, a holographic plate is prepared. Coherent electromagnetic waves are then focused on the holographic plate so that a holographic image of the growth is formed on the actual growth. Magnetic particles may be injected at or proximate to the growth and captured in the EM field corresponding to the holographic image such that these injected particles are caused to congregate in and/or on the growth. In certain example embodiments, bombarding of the growth with the injected particles may help damage or destroy the tumor. In certain example embodiments, the particles, once attached to and/or embedded in the actual growth may be irradiated (e.g., using a microwave or other energy source) so as to further damage or destroy the growth. | 08-25-2011 |
20110205101 | Systems and/or methods for using coherent electromagnetic waves in a missile defense shield - Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to a holography-based missile defense shield. In certain example embodiments, an EM field is created on or proximate to a missile. Based on imaging and/or trajectory data, a holographic plate is prepared such that a holographic projection may be generated therefrom. Electromagnetic waves are then focused on the holographic plate as a reference beam so that the holographic image is generated. In certain example embodiments, the holographic image may correspond to the missile itself, a portion of the missile, a substantially planar shape, a substantially three-dimensional shape, and/or the like. In certain example embodiments, the holographic image focused on or near the missile will interfere with the operation of the missile such that it is damaged, destroyed, or otherwise rendered less of a threat. | 08-25-2011 |
20110061159 | Cleaning systems and/or methods - Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to systems and/or methods that help clean persons having reduced mobility. The systems and/or methods of certain example embodiments help clean persons in areas that are difficult and sometimes even impossible to clean, thereby reducing the likelihood of infection, disease, development of antibiotic resistant diseases, etc. At least one showerhead is provided in such systems/methods. A chair, table, bench, or the like, has a seat and a back support. At least one bladder is connected to the seat and/or the back support of the chair, or on the table, bench, etc., with each said bladder having at least one opening. A hose connects a supply of cleansing fluid to the at least one bladder such that, in operation, the cleansing fluid is forced out of the at least one opening of each said bladder towards the person. | 03-17-2011 |
20100327586 | DRAINAGE, FILTRATION, AND ELECTRICITY GENERATING SYSTEMS AND METHODS - Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to techniques for collecting run-off and/or draining water from commercial or residential sites, filtering out the liquid, and using the filtered liquid to engage one or more turbines to generate electricity. In certain example embodiments, the one or more turbines are located downstream of filtration, grease-collection, and/or other purification devices. The electricity generated by the one or more turbines may be stored in batteries, serve as a power source for an active drainage/filtration system, used for other activities in or around the site, etc. In certain example embodiments, elements (such as sidewalls, vanes, and/or the like) may be provided upstream of the at least one turbine and downstream of the filtration subsystem, with adjacent elements defining constriction locations therebetween to help accelerate the flow of fluids passing therethrough. | 12-30-2010 |
20100282107 | Anti-terrorist system - A system and/or method for securing areas (e.g. airport terminals, courtrooms, embassies, borders, property, surrounding critical infrastructure, areas within cities/towns, etc.) against terrorists is provided. In certain example embodiments, a system and/or method is provided wherein individuals pass (e.g. walk, drive, etc.) through a gateway before gaining access to a secured area. Signals capable of detonating certain explosives that might be carried by the individuals passing through the gateway are emitted in or proximate the gateway. The gateway may be shielded to minimize damage to the surrounding areas. In certain example embodiments, arc currents are generated to trigger the detonation of explosives. In certain example embodiments, explosives may be detonated using cellular signals. | 11-11-2010 |
20100090643 | Systems and/or methods for using air/wind power to charge/re-charge vehicle batteries - Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to techniques that harness air/wind power to charge and/or re-charge a battery of a vehicle that is at least partially electrically powered. In certain example embodiments, air/wind enters into a channel formed in a vehicle and turns a turbine which, in turn, generates electricity that may be used to charge and/or re-charge a battery of the vehicle. In certain example embodiments, the velocity of the air/wind may be increased within the channel by virtue of features including, for example, retractable and/or directional vanes and/or side wall elements that help create constricting locations (or choke points). In certain example embodiments, the velocity of the air/wind may be increased within the channel by virtue of features that produce the Coanda effect. Thus, for instance, both the Venturi effect and the Coanda effect may be used to increase the efficiency of the overall system. | 04-15-2010 |
