20130189676 | USE OF GENETIC MODIFICATIONS IN HUMAN GENE CHK1 WHICH CODES FOR CHECKPOINT KINASE 1 - The invention relates to an in vitro method for predicting disease risks, progression of diseases, drug risks, success of treatment and for finding drug targets by looking for one or more genetic modifications in the promoter region of the CHK1 (CHEK1) gene on human chromosome 11q23, the genetic modifications being a substitution thymine for guanine in position −1143 in the promoter of CHK1, of thymine for cytosine in position −1400, a substitution of cytosine for thymine in position −1453 or an insertion of one cytosine in position −1454 and the genetic modifications being detected individually or in any combinations by way of known methods. | 07-25-2013 |
20120179219 | STIMULATION SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR A CARDIAC PACEMAKER - A stimulation system, an implantable electrode device and a method for operating an implantable electrode device are proposed. A simplified implantation, a simple construction and reliable control are made possible by the electrode device being supplied with energy, and controlled, in an exclusively wireless manner via a time-variable magnetic field. The magnetic field is generated by an implanted control device. | 07-12-2012 |
20110257586 | CALCIUMPHOSPHATE-BASED NANOPARTICLES AS CARRIER-SYSTEMS FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY - The present invention provides pharmaceutical photosensitizer-loaded nanoparticle formulations and their methods of preparation for photodynamic therapy, comprising a hydrophobic or hydrophilic photosensitizer, nanoparticulate calcium phosphate and in certain cases auxiliary reagents such as stabilizers. The calcium phosphate-based nanoparticle formulations of the present invention provide excellent storage stability and therapeutically effective amounts of photosensitizer for intravenous or topical administration. In a preferred embodiment, tetrapyrrole derivatives such as porphyrins, chlorins and bacteriochlorins, are the preferred hydrophobic photosensitizers to be formulated in calcium phosphate nanoparticle formulations for photodynamic tumor therapy. Additionally, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-phosphonooxyphenyl)porphine (pTPPP) is a preferred hydrophilic photosensitizer for photodynamic tumor therapy. In another preferred embodiment, hydrophilic cationic and anionic photosensitizers, especially those of the phenazinium, phenothiazinium and xanthenes series have been found to inactive pathogen bacteria and are the preferred photosensitizers to be formulated in calcium phosphate nanoparticle formulations for antibacterial photodynamic therapy. In another embodiment, photosensitizing nanoparticle formulations are useful to locate cells, tissues or bacteria by using fluorescence imaging methods. | 10-20-2011 |
20100136532 | AQP5 Polymorphism - In order to predict disease risks, disease courses and the response of an individual patient to pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies a polymorphism in the AQP5 gene has been investigated, in particular in the promoter region of said gene,on the human 12q13 chromosome, wherein the therapy can also be a cosmetic treatment. | 06-03-2010 |
20090280386 | METALLIC BIPOLAR PLATE FOR FUEL CELL - Proposed are a bipolar plate for a fuel cell and a method for the manufacture thereof. A simple, cost-effective manufacture is achieved with particularly good characteristics (high electrical conductance, high resistance to corrosion) by coating metallic plate material with Ti | 11-12-2009 |
20090276162 | SENSOR DEVICE AND SENSOR SYSTEM - The invention relates to a sensor device for fastening to human or animal bodies and to a sensor system comprising a plurality of said sensor devices. The sensor devices each comprise a sensor element and a transmission device for the wireless transmission of sensor signals to a receiving device of the sensor system. Thus, universal usability and particularly the suitability to carry out biopotential measurements preferably with automatic detection of configurations is made possible in that the sensor devices each are provided with a connecting device for the electrical connection to a neighboring sensor device and/or a position detection device for detecting the position relative to the neighboring sensor unit. | 11-05-2009 |
20090127167 | Device and Method for Separation of Microparticles in Particular Biohazardous and Hazardous Materials - The invention relates to the separation of microparticles by means of a nozzle ( | 05-21-2009 |
20090067224 | MAGNETORESISTIVE ELEMENT, PARTICULARLY MEMORY ELEMENT OR LOGIC ELEMENT, AND METHOD FOR WRITING INFORMATION TO SUCH AN ELEMENT - A magnetoresistive element, in particular a memory element or a logic element and a method for writing information to such an element are disclosed. The element comprises a first contact of ferromagnetic material and a corresponding layer of magnetoelectric or ferromagnetic material, whereby the first contact is magnetically polarized, depending on an antiferromagnetic boundary surface polarization of the first layer. Said magnetic polarization forms binary information. | 03-12-2009 |
