Description:
[0001] The present invention relates to a case for holding and dispensing
false eyelashes. In particular it relates to a false eyelash dispensing
case with pull tabs and raised mount for increased ease of eyelash
dispensing
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Eyelash extensions/false eyelashes are enhancements that add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes. Eyelash extensions are highly delicate, and contact with the eyelashes should be kept to a minimum to avoid damaging the quality, appearance and integrity of the eyelashes. This cannot be reduced to zero, as a user, be it a professional applying the eyelashes or an individual at home, has to handle the eyelash when removing it from the case and applying it to an individual.
[0003] Traditional eyelash dispensing cases comprise a rimmed/walled tray with a card insert, adhesive strips are across the width of the card insert on the interior tray base. The eyelashes are stuck to the adhesive strip and are removed, usually using tweezers, from the adhesive strip when they are to be used. A lid often attaches to the rim of the tray to protect the eyelashes during storage.
[0004] The removal of the eyelashes from this sort of storage tray is a notoriously tricky process requiring a steady hand and high dexterity. The raised rim of the tray and flat base making it difficult to remove the eyelashes from the adhesive strip without potentially damaging the chosen eyelash or adjacent eyelashes.
[0005] It is an object of the current invention to provide an eyelash extension/false eyelash dispensing tray that greatly reduces the difficulty of removing eyelashes from the tray, and increase the likelihood of doing this without damaging the eyelash or adjacent eyelashes.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
[0006] According to a first aspect of the invention there is provided an eyelash extension/false eyelash dispensing tray comprising: a base having an outer margin and raised central portion extending upwards from the outer margin and having a flat top surface; the tray further comprising at least one elongate adhesive strip across a width of the flat surface of the raised central portion.
[0007] An embodiment of the invention, wherein the adhesive strip further comprises: adhesive on the majority of both the underside and topside of the adhesive strip. One end of the adhesive strip absent of any adhesive and defining a pull tab. Wherein the underside of the adhesive strip is releasably secured to the raised portion of the base and at least one eyelash extension/false eyelash is releasably secured to the topside of the adhesive strip. Wherein, in use, a user uses the pull tab to detach the adhesive strip from the flat top surface of the raised central portion.
[0008] An embodiment of the invention, further comprising a lid having a top surface defining a plane, the top surface having substantially the same area as the base, and walls extending away from the edge of the top surface in a perpendicular direction to the plane of the top surface. The walls having a thickness substantially the same as the outer margin of the base section and a length greater than the height of the raised central portion of the base. Wherein when the lid is engaged with a base the walls rest on top of the outer margin of the base and an inner periphery of the walls form a friction fit with an outer periphery of the raised central portion.
[0009] An embodiment of the invention, wherein the raised central portion comprises a depressed area for holding a complimentary sized sheet. Wherein the at least one adhesive strip is located across the width of the sheet.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] The invention will be described in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the following drawings:
[0011] FIG. 1 depicts an example base section of the invention;
[0012] FIG. 2 depicts a cross section of an example base section of the invention;
[0013] FIG. 3 depicts an example sheet section of the invention;
[0014] FIG. 4 depicts an example lid section of the invention;
[0015] FIG. 5 depicts a cross section of an example lid section of the invention;
[0016] FIG. 6 depicts across section of an example base and lid section together.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0017] FIGS. 1 and 2 depict the base element 10 of the tray, it is generally rectangular in shape with a depressed rim 12 around its edge. The central portion 11 is elevated in comparison to the rim 12. As can be seen in FIG. 1 the central portion 11 also has a rim 13 and a depressed area 14, the depressed area defining a recess for holding a sheet 15 (FIG. 3) which will have eyelashes secured thereto via adhesive strips 16 (FIG. 3). The depressed area 14 having the depth substantially equal to the thickness of the sheet 15 (for example 0.4 mm) such that when in place the top surface of the sheet 15 is substantially flush with the top of the rim 13. On the sheet insert 15 (FIG. 3) there will be at least one adhesive strip 16 (FIG. 3) which will have eyelashes secured thereto, the sheet 15 and adhesive strip 16 will be discussed in more detail below.
[0018] FIGS. 4 and 5 show the lid element 20 of the tray, the lid comprises a flat top main section 21 of a complimentary shape to the base element 10 of the tray and four perpendicularly protruding walls 22, 23, 24, and 25 one along each edge of the flat top main section 21 and defining a rim 26. The internal dimensions of the rim 25 substantially match the external dimensions of the raised section 11 of the base element, the external dimensions of the rim 26 matching the external dimensions of the base element 10.
[0019] Shown in FIG. 6. When the lid element 20 is put onto the base element 10, the base of the rim 25 of the lid 20 rests on the depressed rim 12 of the base element 10. The lid is secured in place by a friction fit between the internal sides of the rim 26 and the external sides of the raised central portion's rim 13 of the base element 10.
[0020] FIG. 3 shows the insert sheet 15 and the at least one adhesive strip(s) 16. The adhesive strips 16 have adhesive, of any suitable type known to the skilled person, on both sides from one end along the majority of their length. The underside 31 has adhesive for securing the strip 16 to the sheet 15, the upper side 32 has adhesive for securing eyelashes thereto. A section 33 at one end of the strip 16 is free of adhesive on both sides 31, 32. This adhesive free area forms a pull tab 33 for a user. The pull tab 33 allows a user to easily raise and remove the adhesive strip 16 away from the sheet 15 while not disturbing any of the eyelashes adhered to the top surface 32 of adhesive strip 16. Once removed, the user will place the adhesive strip 16 on a separate work station (not shown). The at least one adhesive strip 16 can be integral with the sheet 15, joined with the sheet 15 at and end distal to the pull tab 33. The adhesive on the underside 31 does not have to be the same adhesive as on the top side 32.
[0021] According to a specific embodiment of the invention the base section 10 has a total length of 115 mm and a total width of 55 mm and a total height of 5 mm. The rim section 12 having a width of 1.1 mm and a height of 3 mm. the central raised portion 11 extending above the rim section 12 by 2 mm, the central raised portion having a width of 52.78 mm and a length of 112.78 mm. the depressed area 14 of the raised central portion 11 being centred on the central portion 11 has a width of 50.77 mm, a length of 110.77 mm and a depth of 0.4 mm.
[0022] The sheet 15 for inserting into the depressed area 14 will have substantially the same dimensions as the depressed area 14.
[0023] The invention has been described with reference to a preferred embodiment. The description is intended to enable a skilled person to make the invention, not to limit the scope of the invention. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims.
