Abstract:
The REGRIPPER traction pad kit is to make traction pads reusable by
adding a hook and loop style bonding like Velcro (registered trade mark)
for instance, to the bottom of any traction pad and the top of any
surfboard. Traction pads that are available on the market are fixed
permanently by adhesive to a surfboard and are good for only one
surfboard. The REGRIPPER traction pad kit can be used on many surfboards.
The hook side is added to a traction pad by adhesive and the loop side is
added to a surfboard by adhesive. By adding the loop side to additional
surfboards the REGRIPPER traction pad can be peeled off one surfboard and
placed on another surfboard. The REGRIPPER traction pad kit will have
four, fourteen inch by four inch strips each of hook side and loop side
for a larger traction pad and three fourteen by four inch strips each of
hook side and loop side for smaller traction pads. A loop side will be
also available by itself for additional surfboards in a separate kit.Claims:
1. I allen legault claim to invent the reusable traction pad kit for
surfboards the regripper: The REGRIPPER traction pad kit was made to use
a traction pad on more than one surfboard. I used a hook and loop bonding
to the bottom of an ordinary traction pad and the top of a surfboard and
made the traction pad removable from the surfboard. Traction pads that
are available now are for one surfboard only because they are adhered
directly to a surfboard. By using my kit REGRIPPER with a traction pad,
the traction pad can be used on many surfboards by adding the loop side
(REGRIPPER traction pad kit) on the surfboard and the hook side to the
traction pad. The REGRIPPER traction pad kit can also be used to repair a
general traction pad that has peeled away from a surfboard by adding the
hook side to the traction pad and the loop side to the surfboard, both
with adhesive backing for a strong bond to the traction pad and the
surfboard.Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The invention relates to surfboard traction pads and how they are made for only one surfboard.
[0002] I ALLEN KEITH LEGAULT invented the REGRIPPER traction pad kit. I have surfed for many years and have made my own surfboards and used many traction pads. Sometimes a surfboard doesn't have the feel I want it to have and after buying a traction pad and putting it on a surfboard and not liking the way that surfboard rides I felt like I wasted my money on a traction pad for a surfboard I am not going to use. So I invented the REGRIPPER traction pad kit. The REGRIPPER traction pad kit is made to be used on many surfboards using one traction pad. The REGRIPPER traction pad kit makes a traction pad reusable by adding a hook and loop bonding to a surfboard and a traction pad. The hook side is placed onto a traction pad by adhesive and the loop side is placed on surfboards by adhesive. This makes a traction pad usable for more than one surfboard. Most traction pads are made of EVA foam with an adhesive back and can be used on one surfboard only.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The REGRIPPER traction pad kit, is a way to make traction pads reusable. The way to make a traction pad reusable is to add a hook and loop style bonding like Velcro (registered trade mark) to a new traction pad. By adding the hook side to a traction pad and the loop side to the surfboard with adhesive, now the traction pad can be separated from the surfboard and placed onto any surfboard that has the loop side added to it.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0004] FIG. 1 shows the top of a generic traction pad on a surfboard.
[0005] FIG. 2 shows the hook side adhered to the bottom of a traction pad.
[0006] FIG. 3 shows the loop side adhered with glue to the top side of a surfboard.
[0007] FIG. 4 shows the side view of a surfboard with loop side adhered to it.
[0008] FIG. 5 shows a side view of a generic traction pad with hook side adhered to it.
[0009] FIG. 6 shows a strip of hook side fourteen inches by four inches (not to scale)
[0010] FIG. 7 shows hook side with adhesive back.
[0011] FIG. 8 shows a strip of loop side fourteen by four inches (not to scale)
[0012] FIG. 9 shows the loop side strip with adhesive back.
[0013] Any size hook and loop can be changed for wider strips for the kit. These sample figures are for basic function of REGRIPPER traction pad kit.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0014] FIG. 1 shows the top of a generic traction pad on the top of a surfboard.
[0015] FIG. 2 shows the hook side on the back of a traction pad after the hook side has been placed.
[0016] FIG. 3 shows the loop side adhered on a surfboard after the loop side has been placed.
[0017] After FIGS. 2 and 3 are complete the traction pad can be placed and removed over and over again. FIG. 4 shows a side view of the surfboard with the loop side adhered to it, making a permanent bond to the surfboard. And FIG. 5 shows a side view of a traction pad with the hook side adhered to it, making a permanent bond to the traction pad and the hook side. FIG. 6 through 9 show the size of the hook and loop strips that are being used in this example. The width of the hook and loop may be altered for future kits. And may be any color.
