Abstract:
A rail assembly has at least two hangers, a base and a rail body. Each
hanger is a straight slot and has a narrow side and a clamp side
longitudinal forming on the hanger. The clamp side is wider than the
narrow side. The base has a base body and at least two mounting troughs.
The mounting troughs are securely mounted on the base body and each
mounting trough corresponds to and is slidably mounted on one of the
hangers. The rail body is mounted on the base body. It is only to hang
the assembled rail body with the base onto the hangers for assembling the
rail assembly without using any tool, so to assemble the rail assembly is
easy and convenient.Claims:
1. A rail assembly comprisingat least two hangers being separately and
parallelly located, and each hanger being a straight slot and havinga
narrow side; anda clamp side corresponding to the narrow side and being
wider than the narrow side;a base havinga base body havinga rear surface;
anda front surface; andat least two mounting troughs, each one of the at
least two mounting troughs corresponding to one of the hangers and
havingan inner surface corresponding to and being slidably mounted on one
of the hangers;an outer surface being mounted on the base body;a sealed
end; andan opening end; anda rail body corresponding to and being mounted
on the front surface of the base body.
2. The rail assembly as claimed in claim 1, whereinthe base body further has at least two recesses, each recess is formed in the rear surface of the base body transversely; andeach one of the mounting troughs corresponds to and is securely mounted in one of the recesses.
3. The rail assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base body is made of wood.
4. The rail assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the base body is made of wood.
5. The rail assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base body is made of plastic.
6. The rail assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the base body is made of plastic.
Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001]1. Field of Invention
[0002]The present invention relates to a rail assembly, and more particularly to a rail assembly that is capable of securely and directly hanging on a sidewall without using tools.
[0003]2. Description of the Related Art
[0004]Conventional rails are securely mounted between cabinets and drawers with screws and have normally been assembled before furniture been sold. Thus, buyers do not need to worry about assembling problems of rails for these finished-furniture. However, the finished-furniture is gradually replaced by Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) furniture since the RTA furniture is convenient in use and reduces manufacturing, transport and storage costs and spaces. However, most of the RTA furniture still need tools when assembling, especially for mounting metal parts on wooden plates, such as mounting rails on inner surfaces of a cabinet. However, mounting the rail on the inner surface of a cabinet at precise locations to make drawer runs smoothly is not easy for a person who is not skilled in assembling furniture, since the rail is long and heavy but is not easy to leveled on a desired location when using screws to mount the rail assembly on a surface.
[0005]The present invention provides a rail assembly to obviate or mitigate the shortcomings of the conventional rail.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006]The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a rail assembly to improve ease of assembling the rail assembly.
[0007]The rail assembly has at least two hangers, a base and a rail body. Each hanger is a straight slot and has a narrow side and a clamp side longitudinal forming on the hanger. The clamp side is wider than the narrow side. The base has a base body and at least two mounting troughs. The mounting troughs are securely mounted on the base body and each mounting trough corresponds to and is slidably mounted on one of the hangers. The rail body is mounted on the base body. It is only to hang the assembled rail body with the base onto the hangers for assembling the rail assembly without using any tool, so to assemble the rail assembly is easy and convenient.
[0008]Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0009]FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a rail assembly in accordance with the present invention being mounted on a surface;
[0010]FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the surface with the rail assembly in FIG. 1;
[0011]FIG. 3 is a perspective view of two hangers of the rail assembly in FIG. 1 being mounted on the surface;
[0012]FIG. 4 is an enlarged, exploded perspective view of a mounting trough and a hanger of the rail assembly in FIG. 1; and
[0013]FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view of a base and a rail body of the rail assembly in FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0014]With reference to FIGS. 1, and 2, a rail assembly in accordance with the present invention comprises at least two hangers (10), a base (20) and a rail body (30).
[0015]With reference to FIG. 3, the hangers (10) are separately mounted parallelly and securely on a surface (40) of a furniture. Each hanger (10) is straight, may be a solid rod or a trough and has a longitudinal direction, a narrow side (12) and a clamp side (14).
[0016]The narrow side (12) is formed along the longitudinal direction and is securely mounted on the surface (40) of the furniture.
[0017]The clamp side (14) corresponds to the narrow side (12), is formed along the longitudinal direction and is wider than the narrow side (12).
[0018]In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the hanger (10) is a track-like track having a bottom surface and two side edges. The bottom surface is the narrow side (12) to be mounted on the surface (40) of the furniture. The side edges are parallelly to each other and separate with a distance larger than a width of the bottom surface to form the clamp side (14).
[0019]The base (20) has a base body (22) and at least two mounting troughs (24). The base body (22) is a straight rod, may be formed by wood, plastic or the like and has a rear surface, a front surface and at least two recesses (222). The recesses (222) are formed in the rear surface of the base body (22) transversely.
[0020]With reference to FIGS. 4 and 5, each mounting trough (24) corresponds to one of the hangers (10) and has an inner surface, an outer surface, a sealed end (242) and an opening end (244).
[0021]The inner surface of the mounting trough (24) corresponds to and is slidably mounted on one of the hanger (10).
[0022]The outer surface of the mounting trough (24) is mounted on the body (22) and may correspond to and be securely mounted in one of the recesses (222).
[0023]The sealed end (242) is above the opening end (244).
[0024]The rail body (30) corresponds to and is mounted on the front surface of the base body (22).
[0025]Take a Ready-to-assemble (RTA) desk as an example, the RTA desk may have a desk body and a drawer. The drawer is slidably mounted on the desk body with the rail assembly in accordance with the present invention. When a person buys a RTA desk, he/she may get the desk body with hangers (10) mounted at desired locations and the rail body (30) mounted securely on the base (20). It is only to hang the assembled base (20) with the rail body (30) onto the hangers (10) for assembling the rail assembly without using any tools.
[0026]Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
