There are a number of specific massages that may relieve headaches, depending on the area affected by the pain.
+ Headaches have different origins and depending on the case can present different characteristics. This is why some headaches are concentrated in the forehead while others are concentrated in the neck, eyes, top of the head or all over the head. There are specific massages for each type of headache, which is why it's good to know what is the cause of the headache. Always accompany complementary therapies with a visit to your doctor.
▴ On the forehead
Stress, digestive changes or sinus infections can cause specific pains in the forehead.
Apply pressure with the tips of your index fingers on each point on the eyebrows and massage using circular motions.
H On the eyes and behind the eyes
This is a distinctive pain, which tends to be related to digestive disorders or tired vision.
Press with your index, middle, and ring fingers on the sides of the skull, where the reflex points that correspond to this pain are located.
▴ From the neck to the skull
This intense pain is generally related to stress or problems with posture, especially from stiff necks.
Press with your thumbs on the middle of the forehead, the third eye area. Then smoothe the fingers, massaging in circles, across the forehead to the temples until the nape of the neck at the base of the cranium.
F From the nape of the neck to the crown
This can be a very intense pain, generally linked to stress or postural defects, in particular muscle spasms in the neck.
Press the points related to the cervical vertebrae found at the nape of the neck. This is a critical area as it is very vulnerable to tension and bad posture. It is also the point where the nerves meet, radiating pain to the neck, head and shoulders.
H From the neck to the forehead or to the top of the skull
This is an effective technique for all types of headaches related to problems with stress or pains in the base of the skull or neck.
Massage the entire head with the tips of your fingers of both hands, using circular movements, from the skull all the way to the sides of your neck.
▾ All over the head
Pain all over the head tends to be rooted in a series of problems, from a stiff neck and forehead caused by anxiety and tension.
1. Place the hands above the head. Next, with your palms together, apply gentle taps in a circular motion over the head.
2. Place one hand over the head and massage moving from the sides.
3. Place the hands over the eyes to complete a relaxation session.
