Encephalitis - Symptoms
The symptoms of encephalitis range from very mild to very severe. They include:
- Headache
- Fever
- Lethargy (sleepiness and fatigue)
- Malaise (a feeling of weakness and poor health)
- Nausea and vomiting
- Visual problems
- Tremor (shaking)
- Decreased consciousness (drowsiness and confusion)
- Stiff neck
- Seizures
Symptoms often progress rapidly. They change from being mild to severe within several days or even a few hours.
