One of the groups that really needs well-written text documents,
still, is the blind community. Blind computer users who have
mastered a screen reader but are iffy about the rest like ASCII
documents. Jamal Mazrui's site offers a library of converted
documents for this reason.

So, even 'though you do want to have the visual face of the
material appeal to the new crowd, don't throw the baby out with
the bathwater. Look at the result in Lynx. Invite a review or
even planning assistance from Kelly Ford's
webwatch-l@teleport.com or some such list.

We have a brand new guidelines document up at
http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL for public comment. It is a little
rough yet, but if it is unfamiliar ideas it is needed reading.
