Could you be the victim of a phoney spam using your address?
I suppose so, but I doubt it (see below):
Usenet is just a another web page, as for that matter is their mail box.
Perhaps ISP's and the nice folks that put browsers on new computers (AHEM)
should provide access to learning tools. Netscape sets up their browser to
automaticaly subscribe to newusers .. that is a start.
*This* is the source of my problem -- because I manage the "how to find e-mail
addresses FAQ" (inherited from JIK), which goes to news.announce.newusers.
Sigh. Maybe we need to rethink whether *any* large FAQ should go to the
newusers group. In the mean time, I'll have to go compose a new formletter.
