I've seen some newsgroups (specifically
comp.databases.informix) setup such that posts to the group
are forwarded to a list server and vice versa. This is very
annoying but I figure if the people there want this, so be
it.

The unfortunate thing is that there are many clueless people
who have subscribed to the list server and don't know why
they are getting newsgroup posts.

No kidding! :-)

The FAQ for that group has a statement why it's not posted
monthly... something along the lines of "we don't want to
fill your mailbox"... argh!!!
