All true ... but Usenet II doesn't do a damn thing to address the
problems of the technical model. Flood-fill replication of articles
is the model whose time has passed. It was great with a small number
of sites whose readers wanted to read most of what was available,
but both of those assumptions are dead and gone. What we really need
is a *real* Usenet Mark II that redesigns the information distribution
process. Usenet II is just an attempt at a social-engineering bandaid.
I see no reason to think that it will be effective for long even
if the readership accepts all the restrictions.
