Texinfo is an idiosyncratic format largely propagated by the fact that
much of the GNU documentation is written in it. It's time for it to
disappear in favor of HTML, which clearly has a support base thousands
of time larger as well as a much, much richer toolset. I'd strongly
recommend against creating any new documents in Texinfo.
