i am trying to do things like that in word 95 (i use windows 95) and it
doesn't work. it will still save it without line breaks, so when viewed
without auto-breaking a paragraph is all on one line.

i just checked a FAQ that i consider really great, the nine inch nails FAQ,
and which incidentally formats correctly. it has 75 column formatting, so
that looks like the solution. thank you.
