Youch! This is *far* worse than a local change in expiration policy,
because it can prevent a crossposted FAQ from even getting to other parts
of the net, whether they agree with your expiration policy or not.
I think the FAQ community had better develop some sort of response:
either we exert organized pressure to modify these policies, or we change
the way FAQ posting is done to avoid being targeted by them.
As I said, I think anti-crosspost policies are wrongheaded (they'll only
encourage EMP instead), but we had better not just stick our heads in the
sand and pretend that it's not happening or that it won't affect FAQs.
BTW, I agree with Kent Landfield's opinion that Usenet posting of FAQs
is not yet obsolete. But if we ignore threats to the propagation of
FAQs, posting them will indeed become irrelevant, perhaps very soon.
