Yup. I get almost nothing from rec.arts.movies.tech (for which I write
the FAQ). I get tons whenever I post to comp.* or alt.*.

Please, no. I'm sick of folks who post with headers like
'Reply-To: president@whitehouse.gov'. The last thing we need are more
laws. What we do need is to cooperate to make email and USENET spam
painful and unprofitable for those who perpetuate it. If they can't
afford their T1, then they won't be able to send spam out. If their
provider cuts off their accounts, they won't be able to send spam.
If their system crashes (either due to an overload in mail sent to
abuse@site, root@site, postmaster@site, etc. or due to an outside attack
[very tempting...cyberpromo.com runs Sendmail v8.7.3...]), then the
ability to send spam out will be severely curtailed.
