Last week I had a horrible time trying to send my "Natural Migraine Treatment FAQ"
in to the auto-poster. I spent hours sending myself test email messages and
trying to figure out what was wrong. It seemed that the blank lines were being
converted to lines with a single space character, somewhere in the email software.
Finally it turned out that the copy of my FAQ I was working from had those
space characters in it already, (probably from having been copied from one
computer to another), and that with the editor I was using (vi), I thought I
could see that the line was completely blank, when in fact I couldn't and
it wasn't ... the cursor position at the end of a line is the same whether
there's one space there or nothing. Once I figured that out it was very easy.
(Wouldn't it be easier for everybody if the marker for end-of-header was
a printable character, e.g. "&", rather than a completely blank line?)
I suppose no traffic on the list means everything's fine: everybody's
FAQ's are being posted with no trouble. Good. Either that or the list
software isn't working, but Laurent Duperval proved that wasn't the case.
