Most people use Lynx, the text web browser. It is available for UNIX,
DOS, VMS, and who knows what else.

Also there is at least one set of perl scripts floating around.

Check http://www.qucis.queensu.ca/FAQs/FAQaid/ for details about
Lutz Prechelt's html2text and other converters.

The SGI FAQ group has some perl tools:
http://www-viz.tamu.edu/~sgi-faq/tools/

I use Lynx, since it also a text to remind how the output looks from a
different browser.
