Many sites expire articles in regular newsgroups after only two or
three days, so that might be an unrealistic expectation. In fact,
that's one of the reasons the *.answers groups were created: so admins
could set the expire times on those longer, ensuring that the FAQs are
available most of the time (if their individual Expires: headers are
set properly). Of course, not every site does that.

My own, entirely unofficial suggestion, and what I do with my own FAQ,
is to post the FAQ once a month (perhaps even less often) to all its
newsgroups, and post a weekly pointer to the non-*.answers groups
only. (There's no need to post the pointer to *.answers, since in
theory the FAQ is still available there.)
