I generally send them mail asking them to use the complete original version
of the FAQ or create a link to the original. Works all the time.
But I don't actively search for those (mostly outdated) versions of the FAQ.

Mastering the Internet from Sybex had some 100 pages of my ftp sitelist
(10% of the book). They had asked permission to use some of the material
and promised to send me a complimentary copy. I wasn't amused to see that
they had used so much and didn't bother to send me a copy. I mailed the
authors about this and apparently the copies either got lost or something
else went wrong. When the new version came they put the ftp sitelist on the
companion cd-rom (much better than in the book) and send me 2 copies of the
book.
