About a year ago we got into a discussion about writing our own book about
FAQs and a group of us formed the faqbook mailing list and continued that
discussion. Well, the FAQ Book, and its companion CD-ROM and Web Site,
are finally going to become a reality! O'Reilly & Associates is going to
be our publisher and ORA has hired me to coordinate the project and get it
out the door in 1996.

I have put together some Web pages about the project that include a draft
outline of the book, a prototype for the Web Site, and archives of the
faqbook and faq-maintainers mailing lists.

If you are interested in contributing to this project by writing part of
the book or just giving input, please join the faqbook mailing list.

Note that one of the goals of the Web site is to maintain links to the
maintainer's hypertext version of her FAQ (if she has one). We also want
to give a link to both a flat and hierarchical version of the hypertext
FAQ. A flat version is useful for printing and searching, while a
hierarchical version is useful for browsing.
