I'm the co-author of the Hosaphone(tm) FAQ, which is about a
the musical low-cost valveless trumpet-like brass wind instrument called
the Hosaphone(tm), invented by Ellis Workman.
I don't know if this will help you out or not for an FAQ on programming, but
this was our solution to handling additional examples from within our FAQ.
In the Hosaphone(tm) FAQ, there are references to audio sound files and
graphics. Instead of including these are part of the document, the document
created in HTML has them hot-linked to Hosaphone(tm) Headquarters, a web site.
Those reading the FAQ from a web browser can get access to these examples
without them being part of the document. Our FAQ is already 42k and we didn't
want to make it any larger. People reading the FAQ as ASCII only will see the
URL to obtain the examples if they wish. The though of including uuencoded
binaries wasn't an option due to the audience of the FAQ being mostly unsavy
Internet users.
Hope this helps!
