For all of you who

1. maintain their FAQ in HTML and
2. want to produce an ASCII version from that and
3. like the format produced by NCSA Mosaic 'formatted text' output best and
4. are tired of calling this by hand after each update

here is a quick-hack solution:

---------------------

html2text README
====================

The purpose of html2text is to convert HTML documents into nicely
formatted plain ASCII text in the very same way as NCSA Mosaic does
it.
For any further information or configuration, please see the file
html2text.c

This program is a quick-hack by Stefan Haensgen (haensgen@ira.uka.de).
Most of the source code is a verbatim extraction from NCSA Mosaic
(complete files only), so please obey their copyrights.

Note that the program pops up a X Window widget in order to load the
text, so for it to work it is necessary that X11 is running.

Sorry, absolutely no more documentation and no support.

To make it, just type

make

---------------------

I have set this thing up on the WWW under

http://wwwipd.ira.uka.de/~prechelt/documents/html2text.tar.gz

it is 338 Kb long.
