When I took over the comp.lang.perl FAQ, it was in one piece and was
getting rather lengthy. I spent some time rearranging it (and expanding
and updating), and finally ended up with something that had five distinct
sections. I found it very easy to divide it up and added a "part0", a
table of contents.

This has worked extremely well for me. I know (roughly) where to look for
any specific type of question, and don't have to rummage through an entire
almost 200k document to find it. I can update pieces piecemeal, and
archivers only have to grab the new versions, not all parts.

I'd say take some time to figure out logical break points, and go ahead and
break it up. You should find it easier to deal with, not harder by having
multiple sections.
