Is there a procedure for taking over for someone else as far as being a FAQ
Maintainer? The sci.fractals FAQ hasn't been updated by it's approved
maintainer since Feb 13, 1995. About half of the included URL are obsolute,
plus software locations and versions have changed... I've tried contacting
the maintainer who seems unwilling to cooperate. Any advice?
Right now I'm updating the old FAQ into an "unofficial" FAQ which is at
least an updated one. I've posted it twice to sci.fractals without any
comments from the official maintainer.
I think you should do your best to work within the group of
sci.fractals regulars to negotiate some improvement: that the
titular maintainer either maintain the FAQ or hand over the
reins. Possible mediators/allies could be others whose work is
reflected in the FAQ. If it was a solo effort up to now, you
have to give some margin for ego.
In other words, you should seek help from those the maintainer
will listen to, and find them in sci.fractals, not here.
I suspect the news.answers moderators will be reluctant to take
a position on who is the legitimate maintainer.
