(The *.answers moderators' opinions only "matter" for FAQ's which are
cross-psoted to *.answers, of course.) We have no particular
objection to the use of any particular software to post, and we
ourselves maintain the faq-server@rtfm.mit.edu service, which is
simply a highly specialized mail->news gateway. As with any news
posting method, there would be a problem if headers get munged,
though. Given that e-mail is so easily forged, I would suspect that
many of the well-publicized mail->news gateways would have
deliberately blocked posting approved articles to moderated newsgroups
to help prevent semi-anonymous spamming.
I note that I haven't seen an answer to Piero's first question, which
is where mail->news gateway (software) can be obtained....
