So, basically, all periodic posts get archived by their archive names
under *.answers, and get archived under their Subjects in their 'home'
newsgroups, unless the poster has specified otherwise.
Personally, I think that it's useful to archive posts by their subjects,
since the archive-names are often a bit cryptic. This is especially
the case with multi-part faqs where each part has a topical description
in the Subject line, but the archive names are just part1, part2,
part3... also, since the only way to archive non-*.answers posts is by
their Subject lines, it puts everything on the same footing in the
directories.
However, if someone chooses to archive their post by something other
than the Subject, the mechanism to do it is supported.

(*) 'faq' in the generic common sense, equivalent to 'periodic
posting', as opposed to the proper noun 'FAQ', which stands for
a Frequently Asked Questions list. :-)
