I might as well mention in context of some of the other threads in the
last month or so that my primary goal for this coming week w.r.t.
*.answers moderation work is not to work the queue, but to massively
rewrite the three documents above. (And the crowd goes wild.... :) In
the last year or so, at least, these documents have been patched and
updated and expanded, but not carefully rewritten. Even without
hearing all the grumbling dissatisfaction recently aired, I believe
it's time the documents get overhauled.
Here's an answer to Pat's question which will probably in some form be
included in the rewritten documents.

For example, a periodic posting with the headers below:
Newsgroups: comp.sys.foo.misc,comp.sys.foo.info,comp.answers,news.answers
Subject: comp.sys.foo Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
....
Archive-name: foo-faq
will be archived in the following locations on rtfm.mit.edu:
/pub/usenet/comp.sys.foo.misc/comp.sys.foo_Frequently_Asked_Questions_(FAQ)
/pub/usenet/comp.sys.foo.info/comp.sys.foo_Frequently_Asked_Questions_(FAQ)
/pub/usenet/news.answers/foo-faq
/pub/usenet/comp.answers/foo-faq
A periodic informational posting which is *NOT* cross-posted to any of
the *.answers newsgroups, such as....
Newsgroups: misc.bar,alt.discuss.bar
Subject: misc.bar Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
....
Archive-name: bar-faq
but which *IS* listed in the List of Periodic Informational Postings,
will be archived in the following locations on rtfm.mit.edu:
/pub/usenet/misc.bar/misc.bar_Frequently_Asked_Questions_(FAQ)
/pub/usenet/alt.discuss.bar/misc.bar_Frequently_Asked_Questions_(FAQ)
Locations on other archive sites may vary, but most use a similar scheme.
