Assuming a $30.00 price of a CD-ROM, a 10% royalty to split among
the owners of 1000 FAQs (and there are more!), they would have to
sell 10,000 units for you to make more than the $30.00 of a
complementary CD-ROM (which is what one company did for me).
I wouldn't hassle with contracts in this case. I just want to know
who is publishing my FAQs so I can keep them up to date.
Another company which is not in the CD-ROM business is drawing up an
"electronic contract" that stipulates, among other things, a
royalty. We're still in the discussion phase.
